𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄! 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘, 𝐖𝐄'𝐕𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐇𝐘𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄!

On August 6, the WMSU Open House was held to welcome freshmen and showcase the different university organizations. Small community and organization, the WMSU Physics Students Society demonstrated their strengths by hosting physics-related games and distributing free equation sheets. This initiative provided the organization with a valuable opportunity to highlight what makes physics unique.

WMSU Physoc showed that although the physics community may be small, we can stand strong and draw the Crimsons into our world, which we call PhysUniverse.

𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗬𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗦! 🧪

PALS is excited to introduce Dr. Roland F. Caballar, our third speaker who will be walking us through the Materials Science Path! ✨

Asst. Prof. Roland Cristopher F. Caballar, Ph.D. is currently a full-time, tenured faculty member of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the College of Science and the program lead of the M.Sc. Applied Physics Major in Medical Physics program of the Graduate School. He is also the head of the Physics of Life and Stuff (PLS) Research Group and a member of the Mathematics and Theoretical Physics cluster of the Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences (RCNAS).

His current research interests include quantum fluids, open quantum systems, ultracold atoms, quantum technologies, radiation physics and radiation dosimetry. He has published more than 10 scientific papers in Q1 and Q2 SCOPUS-indexed journals and has given oral and poster presentations in multiple national and international scientific conferences.

In his spare time, Asst. Prof. Caballar loves reading (preferably leather bound books, but ebooks are all right), favoring scientific, sports and political biographies, popular science books, and history and current events books. He is also an avid sports fan, eagerly watching games of FC Barcelona (Força Barça! Mes Que un Club!), the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Golden State Warriors, among other teams.

Dr. Caballar will be sharing how his path led him deep into the science of materials — don't miss this! ⚛️

PALS is excited to introduce Mr. Juzzel Ian B. Zerrudo, MSc, CMP, our second speaker who will be walking us through the Medical Physics Path! ✨

Juzzel Ian B. Zerrudo, MSc, CMP is a Certified Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist at the Radiation Oncology Unit, Batangas Medical Center, and Senior Lecturer at the University of the Philippines Manila.

With over ten years of clinical medical physics experience, he is passionate about integrating data analytics, predictive modeling, and complex systems into patient care.

He also served as the head of the Scientific Committee of the Society of Medical Physicists in the Republic of the Philippines (2024-2026). He obtained his MS in Applied Physics, majoring in Medical Physics, from the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School, and his BS in Applied Physics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

From the classroom to the clinic, Mr. Zerrudo will be sharing how physics translates into real, life-saving patient care — don't miss this! 🏥
