In photos | Our community was truly blessed to warmly welcome the seminarians and pastors from Silliman University Dumaguete and Union Theological Seminary of Cavite. during their exposure and immersion visit to one of the housing projects of ZABIDA.
The purpose of their visit was to learn and understand the culture, faith, traditions, and way of life of the different tribes and communities in Zamboanga. Through meaningful conversations, fellowship, and reflection sharing, the encounter became a beautiful testimony of faith, hope, and unity.
It was deeply touching to hear their reflections as they shared that, before coming to Zamboanga, some of them had fears and misconceptions because of what they had seen and heard in the media while choosing the city where they would be assigned for mission exposure. Yet, upon arriving and experiencing the community firsthand, their hearts were transformed. Instead of fear, they encountered peace, hospitality, kindness, and the genuine spirit of the Zamboangueño people.
The community also shared stories of struggle, sacrifice, and hope before becoming beneficiaries of the housing project. Many expressed the hardships they once faced and how God used this opportunity to give their families not only shelter, but also renewed dignity, security, and hope for the future. The exchange of stories and testimonies became an emotional and grace-filled moment that touched the hearts of everyone present.
One of the most inspiring reflections shared by their dean was:
“ In everything we do, where is God? ”
This powerful message reminded everyone that God is always present in every act of love, service, compassion, and solidarity. Through this encounter, we were reminded that faith is not only preached through words, but is lived through unity, understanding, and caring for one another as one community under God.
As a community, we thank God for this blessed opportunity to share our journey, culture, and testimonies with our brothers and sisters in ministry. May this experience continue to inspire all of us to become instruments of peace, compassion, and service to others.
“To serve the people is to serve God, and to love one another is to reflect His presence in the world.”
