Mi Abuelo y Mi Abuela 2025
December 14, 2025 - The halls of the Talon-Talon Home for the Elderly were filled with warmth and joy as the Young Entrepreneur Society (YES) Organization conducted its annual outreach program, “Mi Abuelo y Mi Abuela 2025,” through the Community and Social Services Department. The activity was spearheaded by Hairhea Allama, Director of the department, and aimed to bring comfort, care, and meaningful interaction to the elderly residents of the facility.
YES officers and SBASO volunteer Mr. Dwane Aniñon, together with their adviser Ms. Christine Marie B. Fernandez, SBA Job Order Personnel, Mr. Romy Duran, and SBA OIC Dean, Mr. Christian Paul M. Marcial, spent quality time with the elderly, engaging them in conversations that fostered companionship and emotional connection. The program was further enlivened by the YES Music Department members led by Music Director Judiel Bancairen together with Gwendolyn Pandaog, who serenaded the elderly, creating a warm and festive atmosphere throughout the home.
As part of the outreach, the organization distributed essential care items such as tissues, alcohol, wipes, socks, cotton buds, and slippers. Some of these items were generously sponsored by BS Entrepreneurship alumni, including Ms. Elaine Joy Belen and Ms. Marian Francisco, whose contributions supported the program’s goal of addressing the elders’ daily needs.
YES Organization collaborated with fourth-year BS Entrepreneurship students majoring in Fashion and Apparel, under the guidance of ST Fashion Visiting Lecturer Mr. Alfrancis Flores. The students sewed 42 pieces of clothing for the elderly residents. 19 female elders received bright-colored dusters suitable for daily wear, while 23 male elders were given pajamas designed for comfort and ease.
In addition, YES Organization distributed meals consisting of arroz caldo with chicken and egg, along with fruits and bottled water, to both the elderly residents and the caregivers. To recognize the dedication of the caregivers and staff, the organization also provided appreciation gifts that included shampoo, chocolates, spoons and forks, and handwritten letters expressing gratitude for their continuous service.
The success of the outreach program was made possible through the support of the university administration and community partners. Special thanks were extended to OIC Dean Mr. Christian Paul Marcial, the SBA faculty, and the BS Entrepreneurship alumni for their invaluable assistance. The organization also acknowledged the support of university officials, including University President Dr. Nelson P. Cabral; VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Christina G. Wee; VP for Administration and Finance Dr. Josephine L. Sulasula; VP for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Cyrus Pil Cadavedo; and Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Romel Guillermo.
Through collective effort and compassion, the YES Organization reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility and to creating meaningful impact in the lives of the elderly, especially during the Christmas season.
