PAGASA WARNING: FEWER BUT POTENTIALLY STRONG TROPICAL CYCLONES THIS OCTOBER–DECEMBER 2026

PAGASA expects around 1–2 tropical cyclones per month during the last quarter of 2026.

However, some tropical cyclones that develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) could reach typhoon or even super typhoon intensity.

🌡️ This outlook comes as El Niño continues to strengthen, with PAGASA monitoring the possibility of a very strong El Niño later in 2026.

⚠️ FEWER STORMS DOES NOT MEAN LOWER RISK.
Even with fewer tropical cyclones expected, any system that develops may still bring destructive winds, heavy rainfall, flooding, landslides, storm surges, and other hazards, particularly if it makes landfall.
