🙏 Parishes Celebrate National Migrants’ Sunday

Parishes across the Archdiocese of Zamboanga joined in celebrating National Migrants’ Sunday, offering prayers for migrants, seafarers, overseas Filipino workers, and the families who await their return.

Through the Eucharistic celebrations, our communities gave thanks for their sacrifices and renewed our commitment to welcome, accompany, and care for people on the move.

May every migrant and family feel the love of a Church that journeys with them. 💙

⚓ Celebrating National Maritime Week 2026

The Archdiocesan Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People joined the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office IX in celebrating National Maritime Week, held on September 21–27, 2026, under the theme “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.”

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand with our maritime partners and honor the seafarers and maritime workers whose service supports families and communities. May this celebration strengthen our shared commitment to their welfare and to a safer maritime future.

Thank you, MARINA Regional Office IX, for the invitation! ⚓💙

💙 Love reaches across every distance.

On September 26, OFW kids and their guardians gathered at Tugbungan Elementary School for an afternoon of prayer, connection, and joy. The children took part in a community building activity, shared a special presentation, and received gifts.

Sr. Jesnen Porras, ADC, spoke on “Love Beyond Distance,” while Mr. Richard Miguel of OWWA Regional Welfare Office IX shared the programs and services available to OFW families and Ms Maricris S. Abastas Torres of OWWA had a wonderful and meaningful encoutner with the kids.

To every child missing a parent working abroad: you are loved, remembered, and surrounded by a community that cares. Thank you to the guardians, speakers, and everyone who made this gathering possible. 🌈🙏

⚓💙 Un Ancla de Amor | September 26, 2026

Seafarers’ wives, mothers, and fisherfolk gathered at Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish in Tugbungan for a morning of faith, learning, and fellowship.

The gathering began with a Eucharistic Celebration led by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Rodriguez. Participants then heard talks on the rights and legal protection of seafarers and their families from Atty. Rey Julius Banzon, DMW IX programs and services from Ms. Stephanie E. Carredo, and financial literacy from Mr. Allan Bacalla of BDO Zamboanga La Purisima Branch.

Thank you to our speakers, organizers, and everyone who joined us. May the love of our families remain a steady anchor through every voyage. ⚓🙏

40th NATIONAL MIGRANTS' SUNDAY
27 September 2026

This year, the Church celebrates the 40th National Migrants' Sunday in observance of the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

Pope Leo XIV invites us to reflect on the theme “Even just one of these children,” directing our hearts toward young people on the move and reminding us of our sacred duty to embrace them. Though many children face the pain of exile and separation from loved ones, the light of solidarity endures.

The Holy Father expresses deep gratitude for the families opening their doors, the educators in centers, and the dedicated aid workers healing unseen wounds along migration paths. Their devotion proves that love triumphs over indifference.

Let us keep our OFWs and their families in our prayers and join together in praying the Prayer for Migrant Families after the Post-Communion prayer on Migrants’ Sunday.

The pilgrimage may have ended today, but our journey of faith continues.

¡Viva La Virgen! 🙏💙
