Every great map begins with a single point, and every great movement begins with a shared vision.

What started as a student initiative under the 𝙂𝙚𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙂𝙀𝙎𝘼)
has evolved into a thriving community of passionate individuals committed to using geospatial technology for learning, leadership, and service.

As an official chapter of the global 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 network, 𝐖𝐌𝐒𝐔 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 was founded to empower students with the knowledge and skills to harness mapping for humanitarian action, disaster resilience, environmental stewardship, and sustainable community development. More than simply creating maps, we cultivate individuals who are driven to make meaningful contributions through geospatial innovation.

Through the dedication of our advisers, officers, alumni, and members, our chapter reached a defining milestone by earning official accreditation as an independent student organization at Western Mindanao State University. This achievement marks not only our growth as an organization but also our unwavering commitment to excellence, collaboration, and community impact.

Today, 𝐖𝐌𝐒𝐔 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 continues to inspire the next generation of geospatial leaders by promoting innovation, volunteerism, and lifelong learning. Guided by our mission and united by our passion, we remain committed to creating positive change—one project, one community, and one map at a time.

Last February 6, 2026, our GIS Training Seminar featured an exciting and skill-filled Map-Making Contest where participants transformed data into meaningful visual stories. Each map reflected not just technical knowledge, but creativity, precision, and a deep understanding of how mapping supports community development.

𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗚𝗜𝗦) 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Last 𝕱𝖊𝖇𝖗𝖚𝖆𝖗𝖞 6, 2026, the 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚕𝚎𝚐𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝙴𝚗𝚐𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙰𝚅𝚁 was filled with ideas, insights, and innovation during the successful conduct of the 𝙶𝙸𝚂 𝚃𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚂𝚎𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚛: “𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒕𝒐 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕: 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑴𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕”. It was a day packed with meaningful learning, engaging discussions, and hands-on experiences that deepened our appreciation for Geographic Information Systems and its role in shaping communities.

Through expert sharing and collaborative activities, we explored how GIS supports mapping, spatial analysis, disaster preparedness, urban planning, and sustainable development. Beyond technical skills, the seminar also strengthened our sense of teamwork, curiosity, and responsibility as future geodetic engineers and youth mappers.

A heartfelt thank you to our resource speakers, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐫𝐚𝐝 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐋𝐂. 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐏. 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅.
