Adler speaks of conversation as a high use of time, not a small one. He sees it as a place where joy and meaning meet. What we read, watch, and think finds their fulfillment in shared words. In good conversation, these gains are brought to life and made whole. He also reminds us that this does not come by chance. It asks for skill in speaking and listening, and for a willing heart that chooses it. Many things can fill an empty hour, but few can deepen it. A good conversation turns passing time into something that endures.
