LOOK | Back-to-Back Project Activities for Bagamanoc and Gigmoto Communities

Caritas Virac, in partnership with Fundación de Religiosos para la Salud (FRS), successfully conducted a Stakeholders’ Orientation for two key initiatives:

1. Strengthened Productive Capacities and Advocacy for the Economic Rights of Vulnerable Women in Bagamanoc and Gigmoto, Catanduanes, and

2. Strengthening Community Resilience after Typhoons Kristine and Pepito (for Gigmoto).

The first project targets 15 barangays—9 in Gigmoto and 6 in Bagamanoc (San Isidro, Bugao, Magsaysay, Bacak, Suchan, and Quigaray)—while the second focuses on enhancing resilience in Gigmoto. These initiatives are funded by AECID and Generalitat Valenciana, respectively, and form part of the continuing efforts to support the recovery and resilience of communities affected by Typhoons Kristine and Pepito.

The Stakeholders’ Orientation was held on June 3, 2026, in Bagamanoc, Catanduanes, and on June 4, 2026, at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish in Gigmoto, Catanduanes. The activity was facilitated by Caritas Virac and FRS staff and attended by barangay local government units from the selected communities, as well as elected officials from both municipalities.

Also present were Mr. Alfonso Nuñez (FRS Coordinator for the Philippine Mission), Mr. Reynato S. Caño FRS Project Manager), Ms. Patricia Mae Molina (Caritas/FRS Local Coordinator), Rev. Fr. Raymund T. Teodones (Director of Caritas Virac), Rev. Fr. Karl Anthony M. Padilla, Rev. Fr. John Gerard Aldave, and Rev. Fr. Jesus Guinguing, along with other municipal and community stakeholders.

Each activity concluded with the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), symbolizing the shared commitment and strengthened collaboration among partner institutions and local stakeholders.

Through strong partnerships, shared responsibility, and active community participation, these initiatives mark an important step toward building safer, more resilient, and empowered communities across Catanduanes.
