The recent ๐„๐๐ฎ๐ค๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐š ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ created a safe and meaningful space for students from the College of Education to come together, reconnect, and find strength as a community.

A key part of the activity was a supportive session with Prof. Emlyn M. Lanon, which offered gentle guidance, reflection, and emotional support following the challenges brought by Super Typhoon Uwan. In a respectful and understanding environment, students were reminded that healing is a process best faced with compassion and support.

The day was also filled with laughter through interactive games and activities, complete with rewards that brought joy and light moments to everyone. These shared experiences helped ease stress and allowed students to rediscover happiness in togetherness.

Students also received gifts made possible through the continued generosity of our donors. Each gift served as a simple yet powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported by a caring community.

When Super Typhoon Uwan swept across Catanduanes, it did more than break homes. It disrupted classrooms, shook families, and left many of our own struggling to recover. In moments like this, we return to what has anchored the College of Education since 2020: ๐™€๐™™๐™ช๐™†๐™–๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™–, our simple promise to show that caring still matters.

EduKalinga began after Super Typhoon Rolly tore through our island. Many of us remember those days too well. Lives were upended, livelihoods wiped out, and entire communities left trying to rebuild from almost nothing. As faculty of the CatSU College of Education, we chose not to look away. We acted. We gathered donations, organized help, and delivered what we could to those who needed it most. The tradition continued each year, fueled by the quiet truth that caring multiplies.

This year, after STY Uwan devastated our province again, we turn our attention to two groups who both need and deserve support: the ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ, who continue caring for young children despite their own losses, and the ๐—–๐—ผ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—˜๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜€๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€, who were among the most severely affected by the typhoon. They each carry their own burdens in this recovery. Now it is our turn to stand with them.

The activity resulted in a very successful outcome. It was also joined and supported by Prof. Jowi Resayaga, the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Maria Sheila R. A perfect duty is one that we are expected to fulfill, demonstrating respect, integrity, and dignity toward others. It involves valuing others and practicing freedom to better understand ourselves by genuinely listening to what others have to say.

EduKalinga is about putting ourselves in someone elseโ€™s shoes and building personal relationships through meaningful interactions. This program is grounded in empathy, focusing on the essence of giving and the intention to understand, as well as showing pure love and trustworthiness in the presence of others.

Many of us wonder: Can we truly value the goodness of others in the same way they do? Awareness is vital to acknowledging the uniqueness of individuals and giving them a reason to feel satisfied and appreciated.
