On July 28, 2026, Balik Kaanyag inaugurated its Child & Family Care Center - Cagayan de Oro located at Tulip Street, Camella Homes, Upper Carmen, marking another milestone in its commitment to Care, Heal, Empower. To date, we are grateful to be serving from three locations: 1. Our main center in Sitio Lukong, Dayawan, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, 2. Our Bukidon Child & Family Care Center located in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, and 3. Our Cagayan de Oro Child and Family Care Center.

It is heartwarming to see friends and partners from DSWD Region 10, RACCO 10, CSWDO- CDO, IJM, PIKIFI, USTP-Claveria, Xavier Science Foundation, Church of the Nazarene, Celebration International, and Cathedral of Praise, joining the celebration and affirming our shared commitment
to protect and care for vulnerable children, youth and families from all forms of abuse.

Cagayan de Oro City is the hub of Region 10, Northern Mindanao. The opening of our Child & Family Care Center here reflects Balik Kaanyag's resolve and commitment to care, heal and empower children, youth and caregivers in this region.

We want to see every child live out their God-given dignity, beauty and purpose, and every caregiver equipped to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in their care.❤️

Featured: Participants' Take-Away on BK's Safe & Unsafe Touch Training in Malaybalay, Bukidnon

On June 24, 2026, Mayor Warren Pabillaran of Malaybalay City and the Malaybalay City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in partnership with Balik Kaanyag Bukidnon organized a Psychosocial Activity for a special group of childen in Malaybalay.

Balik Kaanyag Bukidnon Assistant Child Safeguarding Coordinator, Ms. Meriel D. Pisao facilitated the Training on Safe and Unsafe Touch for these children and their families with the support of Balik Kaanyag Bukidnon Focal Head Ms. Eli May Iturralde, RSW, and volunteers from the Church of the Nazarene- Malaybalay.

Participants gained essential life skills on how to recognize safe and unsafe touch, establish healthy personal boundaries, and respond appropriately to situations that may place them at risk of abuse or exploitation.

emPOWERment camp with residents and staff of Women and Children Crisis Center - Malaybalay City last May 20-22 , 2026. Grateful for this partnership with CSWDO Malaybalay!

The participants enjoyed fun therapeutic activities by engaging in empowering play, relaxation exercise, baking, music, arts, healing spirituality and beloved and living refreshed sessions with bonfire nights!

May everything learned and experienced during this camp continually inspire and assure them of our heavenly Father's love for each one of them❤️

TBRI Caregiver Training for DSWD Northern Mindanao Frontline Caregivers Successfully Completed! Grateful for our strong partnership with DSWD 10 in creating safe and nurturing environments for children from hard places!

We are pleased to announce the successful Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Caregiver Training facilitated by Atty. Maria Laarni Sheila Guico-Mally, TBRI Practitioner, for the frontline caregivers of DSWD Northern Mindanao. The training was done during the capacity building event organized by DSWD Northern Mindanao on June 2-5, 2026 in Mambajao, Camiguin. A total of 98 participants composed of social workers, psychometricians, houseparents, drivers, and other personnel from the five Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs) of DSWD 10 attended the training.

This TBRI Caregiver Training which focused on the core principles of Empowerment, Connection, and Correction, has equipped participants with practical, trauma-informed strategies to support children and youth who have experienced adversity. The participants delve into understanding trauma and its impact on child development, creating safe and nurturing environments, and building trusting relationships through attunement and connection.

This training is more than an activity, it is a step toward creating safer, more compassionate care systems. When caregivers are equipped, children feel safe, seen, and supported. We look forward to seeing these practices transform the lives of children from hard places. Thank you to all the participants for your open hearts and minds and active engagement!

Successful Training of Trainers Completed for Child Development Workers in Malaybalay! ✅

We are happy to share that Balik Kaanyag has successfully conducted the Training on Safe and Unsafe Touch and Online Safety for the Child Development Workers (CDW) of Malaybalay on June 11, 2026. The Balik Kaanyag dynamic facilitators consisted of: Ms. Eli May Iturralde, RSW, Focal Head of Balik Kaanyag Bukidnon Office; Mrs. Meriel D. Pisao, Assistant Child Safeguarding Coordinator - Bukidnon; Ms. Christine Jane Otic, RPm, Supervising Clinician, and; Ms. Rhea Julissa Dablo, RSW, Clinician.

We are grateful for the strong support of the City Mayor of Malaybalay, Hon. Atty. Jay Warren Pabillaran, and CSWDO Malaybalay in hosting and organizing this activity.This training equipped participants with the knowledge, age‑appropriate teaching methods, and proper response protocols to effectively guide children and parents against harm and abuse. The goal is to help children recognize safe boundaries, protect themselves from harm, and navigate the digital world securely.

TBRI Introduction & Overview Caregiver Training Completed ✅

We have successfully conducted TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) Introduction & Overview Caregiver Training last May 28 & 30, 2026 for social workers and houseparents of Phil Island Kids Foundation Int'l and Compassionate Hope CDO as well as for new staff of Balik Kaanyag.

The participants expressed gratitude for the knowledge, tools, and insights gained to better understand, connect, and respond to the unique needs of every child. May these caregivers apply these principles with patience, empathy, and love as they nurture safe and healing relationships.
