VICTORIAS CITY โ Following the success of its initial rollout, the Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, Inc. (CSAV) Social Work Program, in coordination with the Community Extension and Services Office (CESO), successfully conducted Session 2 of the project โResponsable nga Ginikanan, Protektado ang Kabataan (RGPK)โ.
The second seminar, titled โPositive Discipline and Emotional Management,โ took place on May 8, 2026, at the Barangay VI-A Covered Court in Zone 2, gathering 70 local parents eager to foster healthier home environments.
The primary mission of the session was to equip families with non-violent communication techniques and emotional self-regulation strategies. Organized in close partnership with the Barangay Council of Barangay VI-A, the program aimed to break reliance on aggressive disciplinary measures and encourage proactive, supportive family relationships.
The event kicked off with a registration process, an opening prayer, the national anthem, and welcoming remarks from a barangay representative. To break the ice and build a relaxed atmosphere, a dynamic icebreaker was held to energize the participants before moving into the heavy discussions.
The resource speaker guided the 70 participants through essential parenting modules, navigating critical topics such as:
1. The distinct boundaries between constructive discipline and harmful punishment.
2. The long-term psychological and behavioral effects of violent discipline on child growth.
3. Managing personal emotional triggers and community stress.
4. Practicing active listening and establishing consistent daily routines at home.
The structural highlight of the seminar was an open forum and an emotional sharing session. Parents openly reflected on their personal discipline tendencies, safely identifying behaviors they wished to correct or improve.
This space allowed for honest interaction, shared vulnerability, and deep community learning. Interactive games and group activities were seamlessly woven throughout the session to maintain high engagement and build a spirit of cooperation among the participants.
The success of Session 2 was a direct result of the collaboration between the participants, the local barangay officials, project heads, and the dedicated second batch of implementers from the CSAV Social Work Program.
By increasing the community's grasp on emotional management and non-violent communication, the RGPK project continues to chip away at the supervision gaps and behavioral risks facing local youth, guiding Barangay VI-A toward a more peaceful, supportive, and protected future.
