Every child deserves nutritious food, proper care, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Did you know? Malnutrition is not limited to a lack of food. It includes different forms of undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, overweight, and obesity, reflecting the many ways nutrition can affect health and well-being.
According to the ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐จ๐ก๐๐๐๐โ๐ช๐๐ขโ๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ธ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฝ ๐๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป Estimates, an estimated ๐๐๐.๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐ under five were affected by stunting, ๐๐.๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ by wasting, and ๐๐.๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ were living with overweight globally in 2024.
Here in the Philippines, the situation remains a concern. ๐๐๐ก๐ฃ๐ช๐ฉ๐ง๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ช๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ช๐ง๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐ก๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฉ 25.3%, ๐ค๐ง ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ง๐ค๐ญ๐๐ข๐๐ฉ๐๐ก๐ฎ 1 ๐๐ฃ 4, ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐๐ฃ๐ค ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ง๐๐ฃ under the age of five, according to recent updates from the National Nutrition Survey (NNS). This highlights how global nutrition challenges are also reflected in the lives of Filipino children and families.
These numbers remind us that malnutrition takes different forms and remains an important nutrition and public health concern. Addressing it requires more than simply providing foodโit also involves access to adequate and nutritious diets, proper care, health services, and a supportive environment.
Through awareness, education, and collective action, we can help promote better nutrition and contribute to healthier and stronger communities.
Let us continue to nourish, educate, and empowerโbecause every meal matters, every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and better nutrition begins with informed action.๐ฑ
