A Genuine Heart

Matthew 6:1-4 - Jesus teaches us about genuine giving. Jesus is gently turning our gaze away from the spotlight and toward something quieter.

Jesus reminds us that when we give, our motive matters more than the act itself.

Don't give for the applause, recognition, and attention of humans. Giving should be quiet and compassionate. If we give quietly and purely out of love, God Himself sees and rewards that genuine heart. A heart that gives out of gratitude, not guilt and not for applause; a heart that seeks to glorify God.

Matthew 6:5-15 - Jesus teaches us how to pray with a genuine heart that seeks connection with God, not attention from others. He also teaches us that prayer isn't about convincing God; it's about aligning our hearts with His will.

Our prayer should be personal and sincere. No fancy words, not performative. Jesus teaches us to pray with humility and to forgive others the way God forgives our sin. And through forgiveness, we release bitterness, and we open our hearts to God's mercy and reflect His nature to others.

Matthew 6:1-15 teaches us that giving, praying, and forgiving should flow from a genuine love for God. Also a reminder that God sees even the unseen momentsβ€”our secret sacrifices. And unlike human praise, His reward is eternal.

At the end of the day, our audience is only One, and He sees every humble act done out of genuine love.

The silent relationship killer
β€œSin of familiarity”

They saw Him grow up.
They knew His family.
The carpenter’s son,
They thought they knew Him all too well.

They probably had certain expectations of what a messiah should be like (maybe he walks on a red carpet or is a rich person, etc.) and just because they doubted and lacked faith. They missed the chance to experience His miracles.

Today ⬇️
Familiarity begins when we pray without faith.
When we read His word without expectation.
When we start to treat Holy as common.
When we go to church just because you need to attend.
When you lost interest and excitement in doing your devotion.

Slowly. Silently. Killer.
That is the sin of familiarity.

This sin kills not the body but our fire and relationship to our Lord. Guard your heart. πŸ™

β€œAt that time Jesus prayed this prayer: β€œO Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way! β€œMy Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” Then Jesus said, β€œCome to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Revelation:
Nakikita natin dito na importante ang humbleness and humility sa Lord β€” actively listening to Him.

Lumapit ka sa Kanya β€” tatanggapin ka Niya, wherever you are and whoever you are. He is loving, gentle, and humble. Hayaan mong turuan ka Niya at i-lead ka. He will lead you to life.

β€œThen Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. β€œWoe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in S***m, it would have remained to this day. But I tell you that it will be more bearable for S***m on the day of judgment than for you.”

‭Matthew ‭11‬:‭20‬-‭24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Revelation:

I was reminded about the hardened hearts because of sin.

Although maraming beses na natin na-witness si Lordβ€”through the Word of God, devotions, miracles, signs, wonders, visions, and even His audible voiceβ€”nababalewala pa rin natin ito dahil sa mga self-centered at self-satisfying choices natin sa buhay.

Minsan, di natin ito napapansin.

Sa mga araw na hindi tayo nagpe-pray o nagde-devotion, we are actually denying Him. We’re going back to our old self. And if we deny Him, He will also deny us someday in front of His Father in heaven.

If we really want to follow Him, we must repent, deny ourselves, and carry the cross daily.

Wag natin hayaang tumagal at ma-harden ang ating mga puso.

Today is the perfect day to repent.

β€ŽListen.
β€Ž(Matthew 13:1-23)
β€Ž
β€ŽWe are usually familiar with the rhetorical phrase "Lend me your ears," which is widely used before public speaking, a gesture that wants the full attention and understanding of the people who listen.
β€Ž
β€ŽIt was the same in the Bible when Jesus said, "Listen, then, if you have ears!" (v. 9).
β€Ž
β€ŽThe verse seems not so important, but it's actually the root of the understanding for the topic.
β€Ž
β€ŽJesus in this chapter told a parable about a sower who came out to plant seeds, and then He later on explained the meaning of it to his disciples. But before the very discussion of its meaning, the disciple asked a very crucial question: β€œWhy do you use parables when you talk to the people? ” (v. 10)
β€Ž
β€ŽIt's because "...they look, but do not see, and listen, but do not hear or understand" (v.13), Jesus answered.
β€Ž
β€Ž
β€ŽWhat Jesus is pointing to here is:
β€Ž
β€ŽThat large crowd doesn't gather there to really seek him, to know God's will and be changed.
β€ŽMOST of them came for their own selfish motivesβ€”to be encouraged, to be healed from physical illness; some came to scorn, and some came just to be entertained.
β€Ž
β€ŽNo one seeks the KINGDOM, THE WILL, THE HEART OF GOD; THAT IS WHY THEY CANNOT BE [FULLY] HEALED! (v.15)
β€Ž
β€ŽPeople can't find true satisfaction, true healing, true prosperity, or true freedom because THEY COME NOT TO BE CHANGED.
β€Ž
β€Ž
β€ŽToday, how ready are we to be changed by God through his words?
β€Ž
β€ŽHow ready are we to come to Him like His disciples and ask for understanding and guidance?
β€Ž
β€ŽHow ready are we to sit away from our throne and let God sit there for real?
β€Ž
β€ŽThis is not just a matter of parable, its meaning and all, but the matter of willingness...the willingness to be changed and to be used by God.
β€Ž
β€ŽYet in the end of the narration, even though Jesus knows the heart of those people, He still...
β€Ž- Let them sit and listen to him.
β€Ž- He didn't chase them away but decided to keep them until the end of the teaching.
β€Ž
β€ŽWhich means there's still HOPE.
β€ŽGod is still in the business of reaching out, even to usβ€”hardened and difficult people. We just need to really "listen" this time.
β€Ž
β€ŽToday is the day of salvation; do not harden your heart when you hear his call.
β€Ž
β€ŽGod bless!
