Today, April 9, 2026, we once again pay tribute and look back at the immeasurable sacrifices of the heroes who defended our freedom in Bataan and Corregidor during the Second World Warโ€”a remembrance that goes beyond offering flowers at shrines, but serves as a vow that we shall never forget the value of every drop of blood and sweat shed for our future.

Under the theme, ๐•๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐จ๐ž๐ฌ; ๐€ ๐‹๐ž๐ ๐š๐œ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐†๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ, we recognize that true courage is found not only within the pages of history or in the midst of war; it also flows through every Filipino who continues to stand for truth, justice, and the sovereignty of our nation amidst the modern challenges of our time.

Every step taken by our veterans during the brutal Bataan Death March serves as a guide and inspiration for us to face today's trials with unity, compassion for our fellowmen, and an undying love for our country, for preserving our freedom is a duty we all carry as a race of dignity and resolve.

May their heroism serve as a flame within our hearts, so that we may continue to build a Philippines that is stronger, freer, and more devoted to our own, because the spirit of 1942 will never fade as long as there are Filipinos ready to stand up for what is right and for the nation. We salute our heroes of the past and the new heroes of our generation!
