Members of WISAR Metro North participated in the Community Disaster Preparedness Training organized by the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (QCDRRMC) on May 4, 2026.

As an Accredited Community Disaster Volunteer (ACDV) unit, we believe that continuous learning is the backbone of effective service. This training served as a touchpoint for our team to strengthen our response capabilities.

Training Highlights:
🚑 First Aid: Essential medical refreshers for rapid response.
⚠️ Hazard Prep: Identifying local risks and how to mitigate them.

WISAR Metro North serves as a force multiplier, bridging the gap between local authorities and the community. We’re here to provide the extra hands and heart needed to keep our neighbors safe.

⚠️☣️ Building a Safer Community: HazMat Awareness Training Success! 🎉

Last Saturday, November 22, 2025, we successfully concluded our Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Awareness Training. It was an inspiring day dedicated to safety and readiness, bringing together a dedicated mix of volunteer groups, emergency responders, and firefighters all eager to upskill.

Why this training matters:
• Risk Identification: Developing the ability to quickly identify hazardous substances to ensure the safety of both responders and the public.
• Strategic Response: Learning the proper protocols for containment and initial mitigation during chemical emergencies.
• Confidence in Action: Equipping our team with the knowledge to make split-second, informed decisions in high-stakes environments.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible.

📣 ONGOING OPERATION: Stay Safe from Super Typhoon Uwan! ⚠️

WISAR Philippines - Metro North Chapter volunteers are deployed and actively working alongside the QCDRRMO USAR Team to do pre-emptive evacuation yesterday and today.

They are also on standby for possible rescue deployments should there be a need.

📍 URGENT SAFETY REMINDERS:
➡️ If you are still in a danger zone, please evacuate to a safer shelter IMMEDIATELY.
➡️ Stay indoors and monitor official LGU advisories.

Wilderness Search And Rescue Philippines - Metro North conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) with its members in the local chapter regarding the incoming Typhoon (Int'l Name "FUNG-WONG").

Thank you to Sir Kenneth for presenting the weather outlook.

We've discussed Typhoon Uwan's projected track and timeline based on PAGASA's most recent update, our AOR, safety, guidelines and possible deployments.

The WMN leadership reminded everyone to be fully prepared, stay alert, and be deployment-ready for affected areas if needed, prioritizing the security and safety of their families before responding to any operations.

We discussed Severe Tropical Storm Opong's projected track and timeline based on PAGASA's most recent update and also checked on the status of our members and the possible impact on their areas.

Did you know uncontrolled bleeding is a leading cause of preventable death?

Time is critical in bleeding emergencies. Someone can bleed to death in just a matter of minutes. ⏱️

Hands-on training is key! ✋ Learning techniques empowers you to be a lifesaver. Last Saturday, some of our WISAR volunteers learned how to effectively control bleeding during a class. We were refreshed with the basics of wound packing, tourniquet application, and direct pressure and it's not as intimidating as you might think.

We would like to thank our partner, Community Emergency Responders Network for this valuable training. Not only did we get a bleeding control class but we also get to be refreshed in other medical first aid skills/lectures. Working together with a group who has the same vision of educating the community and saving lives is always one of the best collaborations.

We also want to thank Hon. Celestino Martinez Jr. of Brgy. Bagumbuhay for generously providing us with the venue for this event. As someone who is a volunteer himself and a public servant, his support to our team and dedication to community welfare and safety is truly commendable and deeply appreciated.

We'd also like to thank our WISAR Metro North Chapter Leadership for spearheading this valuable training, our volunteer participants for continuously wanting to learn, and Wilderness Search And Rescue Philippines National for the usual support.
