𝙆𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙚 ‘𝙩𝙤—𝙩𝙖𝙢𝙖 𝙗𝙖?

Last November 6–8, young leaders from Cavite gathered for a 3-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 to strengthen their skills in child rights, meaningful participation, communication, and inclusive leadership. Facilitated by Kuya Jay (Council for the Welfare of Children), Ate Lorbeth (Valenzuela Young Heroes), and Kuya Jim, participants learned how to create safe, empowering, and child-friendly spaces where every voice is valued.

Through hands-on activities and the Showing Bulilit, participants showed that when children are equipped and encouraged, they can lead with confidence, empathy, and purpose.

Together, we continue building communities where children are not just heard—
they are partners, leaders, and changemakers. 🌟

𝙆𝙖𝙮𝙖 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙚 ‘𝙩𝙤—𝙩𝙖𝙢𝙖 𝙗𝙖?

Last November 6–8, young leaders from Cavite gathered for a 3-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 to strengthen their skills in child rights, meaningful participation, communication, and inclusive leadership.

Organized and led by the Cavite Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (Cavite PCPC), the training was facilitated by Kuya Jay (Council for the Welfare of Children), Ate Lorbeth (Valenzuela Young Heroes), and Kuya Jim.

Throughout the sessions—lalo na sa Showing Bulilit—participants showed that when children are equipped and encouraged, they can lead with confidence, empathy, and purpose.

The Valenzuela Young Heroes (VYH) successfully organized and joined the 3-𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐓𝐨𝐓) 𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 last October 24–26, 2025 at Wynwood Hotel Manila, Pasig City.

This three-day training strengthened the youth’s skills in facilitation, communication, and peer learning. Participants also gained essential knowledge on HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), pandemic preparedness, child rights, and SEAH (Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment) safeguarding.

Valenzuela DigiChamps (VDC) and Barangay Children Association (BCA) also took part in the sessions. The event was proudly supported by Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

Training Goals:

• Build strong knowledge on HIV, TB, child rights, safeguarding, and emergency preparedness
• Develop facilitation and communication skills for peer learning and community engagement
• Provide hands-on practice through simulations
• Strengthen teamwork and leadership for sustained youth action

Through this ToT, VYH continues its commitment to youth-led advocacy, empowering young leaders to guide their communities toward safety, resilience, and inclusive development.

Last October 7, 2025, Ate Lorbeth and Kuya Paul from Valenzuela Young Heroes (VYH) and Kabataang Resilient Member participated in the 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 (CLAC) session at Microtel by Wyndham, UP Technohub.

The discussion highlighted how climate, environmental, and energy issues impact children, including: education, health, nutrition, WASH, social protection, child protection, and the Children’s Climate Risk Index. VYH joined the Child Protection group, focusing on both protecting children and promoting their participation in climate action.

Child Protection Group Members: Sir Dennis Mendoza (NYC), Sir Ludwig (DENR), Lorbeth & Paul (Youth Representatives), Kuya Alfred Dicto & Ate Joy Vanessa Perez (UNICEF).

Key topics explored the impacts of climate change on children, equity and who is most at risk, child-focused policy & finance and partnerships to protect children in a changing climate.

Children are among the most vulnerable to climate risks—and youth advocates play a vital role in building safer, resilient communities.

In Marulas, we live the everyday realities of climate change and flooding — from disrupted routines to threatened homes and livelihoods. These challenges shape our stories, our decisions, and the way we care for one another as a community. And now, Marulas is choosing to redefine resilience together.

Last October 26, children, youth, parents, teachers, barangay officials, and community leaders gathered to launch the Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) on Climate Action and Disaster Resilience (CADR) initiative, a shared commitment to preparedness, awareness, and healthier habits for everyday safety.

We also introduced the SBC Toolkit on CADR, a resource created with and for communities to help us understand risks, identify hazards in our area, and build simple, practical habits that make Marulas stronger and safer.

With the support of UNICEF Philippines , Positive Youth Development Network , Valenzuela Young Heroes, and BCPC Marulas, this milestone marks a step toward a climate-ready and future-proof Marulas. But the heart of this movement remains here — in our families, our streets, and our barangay.

The 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 (𝐒𝐁𝐂) initiative is a concrete plan for positive and measurable transformation. It moves beyond short-term fixes by reshaping our behaviors and environment toward preparedness, resilience, and sustainability. This is Marulas’ direct response to the climate crisis and the risks of flooding.

This milestone program is championed and funded by 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗙 and 𝗣𝗬𝗗𝗡, in partnership with Valenzuela Young Heroes and the Barangay Child Protection Center (BCPC) Marulas.

Last September 19-20, a 2-day workshop on 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 was successfully held at Park Inn by Radisson, North Edsa—led by the Positive Youth Development Network(PYDN) and UNICEF Philippines.

This gathering brought together passionate youth, leaders, and organizations with the special participation of Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela Young Heroes, Youth of Marulas, Barangay Children's Association - Marulas, YES-O Club of Marulas Central School, as well as key local government offices and community stakeholders, including DILG, CSWDO, CPDO, VDRRM, LYDO, GAD, DepEd, and CENRO.

The workshop was more than just a learning session—it was a celebration of unity and action, where the whole Marulas family—schools, communities, local government, and households—came together to strengthen their knowledge, share experiences, and collaborate for a sustainable and resilient future.

We are reminded that true resilience is not built overnight. It starts with small steps, shared goals, and the determination of young people who dream of a better tomorrow. With the energy of the youth and the support of the community, government, and schools, we can turn challenges into opportunities and create lasting change.

Together, let’s keep the fire burning for climate action, disaster preparedness, and community resilience. 🌏💚

The 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 was successfully held last August 3, 2023 at Aberdeen Court, led by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) together with Valenzuela Young Heroes (VYH), DigiChamps, ECPAT, RSCWC NCR, and with the strong support of the Quezon City Government LGUs and to QC Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Over 120 child representatives from Quezon City came together to share their experiences—at home, in school, in the community, online, and in their interactions with the government.

The consultation highlighted children’s rights, safety, and the importance of amplifying children’s voices in building a better society.

Because every child’s voice matters! 💙✨
