Research from International Justice Mission (IJM) shows that many offenders target Filipino children online because it is ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐, ๐น๐ผ๐-๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ธ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ. Often, abuse happens inside homes or familiar places, proving that danger can exist even where children should feel safest. This crime leaves lasting physical, emotional, and psychological scars and prevention is critical.
To address this, last February 18, 2026, ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฃ๐ฏ๐ช๐๐ก๐ ๐พ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐ก๐๐ช๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ฃ๐ฉ๐-๐๐๐ผ๐๐พ & ๐พ๐๐ผ๐๐ ๐พ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฃ, a strong, united effort to raise awareness, promote safe internet use, and strengthen reporting and protection systems. This campaign is important because protecting children requires informed families, alert communities, and early action.
As part of this effort, the Valenzuela Young Heroes (VYH) signed a Pledge of Commitment to guide younger children online, report suspicious activity, and become advocates for child safety. With the support of schools, barangays, law enforcement, and partner organizations, including International Justice Mission (IJM) through a signed MOA, Valenzuela City is building a safer community where children can grow, learn, and thrive without fear.
