In celebration of World Tourism Day 2026, the SPUP Junior Marketing Association (JMA), Junior Finance Executives (JFINEX), and Philippine Hospitality and Tourism Students (PHRTS) participated in the Tree Growing Activity organized by Cagayan Tourism in Peñablanca, Cagayan on September 27, 2026. 🍃
The activity took place within an ecologically vital watershed area that serves as an important source of water for Tuguegarao City and surrounding communities. It emphasized the importance of watershed protection and environmental conservation, particularly in areas that support local communities.
As part of the activity, students planted Fringon seedlings, a local tree species found in Peñablanca, to support the restoration and protection of the watershed. The activity was conducted with the support of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), with seedlings provided by the Metropolitan Tuguegarao Water District (MTWD).
Through their participation, the student organizations demonstrated their support for environmental conservation and sustainable practices, contributing to efforts to protect natural resources and support the communities that depend on them. 🌳🌿
