The Christmas season is truly a time of giving and sharing, a season when compassion knows no boundaries and people come together to create meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for those who need it most. Embracing this spirit of generosity, organizations across the country conduct outreach initiatives that bring hope, joy, and inspiration to communities. For the IECEP Cagayan Valley Chapter, with the steadfast support of Hon. Engr. Gerhard Tan, PRC Board of ECE Member, this cherished annual outreach initiative is known as PASKONG NORTE.

This year’s PASKONG NORTE was successfully conducted on December 30, 2025, reaching the Indigenous People (IP) community of Sitio Nangaramoan, San Vicente, Sta. Ana. The activity was made possible through the invaluable assistance and warm support of the Barangay leadership, headed by Hon. Rosemarie Rugrug, together with other barangay officials. The IP community, composed of 25 families, warmly welcomed the IECEP delegation and actively participated in the celebration, creating an atmosphere filled with gratitude and joy.

The outreach activity opened with a short program, setting the tone for a day of fellowship and celebration. This was followed by fun-filled and engaging games prepared especially for the children, bringing laughter and excitement to the community. To further delight the young participants, a Jollibee mascot made a special appearance, creating unforgettable moments and smiles. The children and their families were also treated to Jollibee meals for lunch, making the occasion even more special and memorable.

To cap off the celebration, grocery packs were distributed to each family to help them prepare for their Media Noche, allowing them to celebrate the Christmas and New Year season with renewed hope, joy, and togetherness.

IECEP-Cagayan Valley mourns the passing of Diosdado “Dado” Banatao, a distinguished Cagayano engineer and Silicon Valley pioneer, who died on December 25 in Stanford, California, at the age of 79.

A native of Iguig, Cagayan, Banatao helped shape the modern technology industry through his groundbreaking work in microprocessors, PC chipsets, and graphics acceleration. Beyond innovation, he dedicated his life to opening doors for Filipino students through education and philanthropy.

His brilliance, humility, and generosity leave a lasting legacy.
