LOOK | SPUPCDCFI strengthens partnership with DSWD–CAR

SPUPCDCFI, through Ms. Grace Aliman, Project Manager of the Primary Health Care (PHC) II Project, visited the DSWD–CAR Regional Office on April 21, 2026, to strengthen coordination and partnership.

The meeting, facilitated by Ms. Fatima D. Florendo, Regional Program Coordinator of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), together with Ms. Karen Angeli C. Flores, PDO II and CSO Focal Person, and Ms. Nora D. Rillera, PDO II (LGUs/SSA), opened a meaningful discussion on how the PHC II Project and the Rolling Clinic Project of SPUPCDCFI can better reach and serve more families in Apayao.

The meeting highlighted shared goals, improved coordination, and stronger collaboration to ensure that services reach those who need them most.

PHC II Project Updates

SPUPCDCFI, with support from German Doctors and BMZ, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Apayao and the Municipality of Calanasan, conducted a Social Awareness and Leadership Training in Tangalagan, Calanasan on April 14-15, 2026. This activity is part of the preparatory phase of the Primary Health Care II Project.

The training focused on strengthening the interpersonal and intrapersonal skills of community leaders and volunteers, while also improving their leadership and problem-solving abilities. Through interactive discussions and practical activities, participants gained useful knowledge and skills on social awareness and leadership.

More importantly, the training encouraged participants to take a more active role in their communities—working together, addressing everyday challenges, supporting one another, and contributing to positive and lasting change.

📌GERMAN DOCTORS PROGRAM OFFICERS VISIT THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF KABUGAO

📌German Doctors Country Representative Ms. Amy Padilla and Project Officer , Mr . Andreas Schmitz accompanied by the stafg of Primary Care Program of St. Paul's University and the Rolling Clinic visited the Office of the Municipal Adminsitrator for coordination regarding the roll-put of BHW training in 10 identified recipient barangays and the anticipated GD program policy changes.

SPUPCDCFI Joins Women’s Month 2026 Kick-Off; Highlights Women-Led Community Projects

On March 2, 2026, at the Santiago Sports Arena in Brgy. Baluarte, Santiago City, St. Paul University Philippines–Community Development Center Foundation, Inc. (SPUPCDCFI) participated in the Women’s Month 2026 Kick-Off Activity.

SPUPCDCFI shared its experiences in integrating Gender and Development (GAD) into women-led community projects, particularly through its Primary Health Care (PHC) Project. The organization demonstrated how gender-responsive planning, inclusive participation, and empowering women health workers create real change in communities. By using sex-disaggregated data and engaging communities continuously, SPUPCDCFI ensures every voice is heard.

“When GAD is fully integrated, women move from the margins to the center of community progress. Empowering women strengthens families, institutions, and the future of our communities,” SPUPCDCFI emphasized.

Organized by the Regional Gender and Development Committee, the event brought together government agencies, civil society groups, and development partners working to advance gender equality. SPUPCDCFI’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to building inclusive communities where women are leaders and change-makers.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 | 𝐏𝐇𝐂 𝐈𝐈

Since February 10, 2026, the PHC II Project Team has been visiting partner barangays in Kabugao and Calanasan, Apayao, to personally introduce the Primary Health Care II Project, listen to community voices, and strengthen local partnerships. Through project orientations, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), the team opened meaningful conversations about the health needs, challenges, and aspirations of each community.

More than routine visits, these engagements have become opportunities to build trust, clarify roles, and identify participants for upcoming trainings and activities. With the strong support of the Local Government Units, the initiative continues to move forward with shared commitment and collaboration.

The PHC II Project is being implemented in 20 barangays across Kabugao and Calanasan, and the community visits will continue until all barangays have been covered. This initiative is made possible through the support of German Doctors Bonn and BMZ, as we work together toward healthier and more resilient communities in Apayao.
