Division orients ALS implementers on enhanced curriculum

The Schools District of Tubungan, Iloilo, represented by its ALS teachers, Schools District Supervisor and School Head in ALS, attended the division orientation training on DepEd Order No. 001, series of 2026 regarding the Enhanced Alternative Learning System curriculum, Punta Villa Resort Inc., Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo, Iloilo City under the Schools Division of Iloilo, May 18–19.

This activity was organized by the Curriculum Implementation Division to fully orient all implementers on the updated policies, standards and competency-based framework that aligns ALS with the formal K to 12 basic education system, ensuring learning becomes more accessible, relevant and responsive to community needs.

Participants engaged in presentations, workshops and discussions covering the new guidelines, varied delivery modes, and improved assessment tools designed to properly track and validate the progress of every out-of-school youth and adult learner.

“With these new guidelines, we are making sure that every learner, regardless of their situation, gets the same quality education and clear path toward finishing their studies or pursuing work,” said Juan Adlai Caigoy, ALS Education Program Supervisor of the Schools Division of Iloilo.

Caigoy further emphasized, “This enhancement transforms ALS into a stronger, more credible pathway, and we are fully committed to guiding every district in implementing these changes effectively for the benefit of all learners.”

This activity was conducted pursuant to Office Memorandum No. 138, s. 2026.

Assitant Principal conducts review in LS 6

Assistant Principal II of Tubungan National High School tackled Learning Strand 6 (LS 6) Digital Literacy for TUBONG ALS participants at Tubungan Central Elementary School CLC, February 27, aiming to enlighten Alternative Learning System (ALS) Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) test takers by discussing key aspects they need to know about the subject.

Joel T. Calzado covered essential points for the examinees, including understanding basic digital device operations, navigating online platforms safely, evaluating the credibility of digital information, protecting personal data and privacy online, and using digital tools for communication, research, and problem-solving; all competencies critical for the LS 6 component of the ALS A&E assessment.

TUBONG ALS is the intensive review program of the Schools District of Tubungan, Iloilo, designed to prepare out-of-school youths and adult learners for the ALS A&E examination, which is scheduled to be conducted on March 29 across designated testing centers in the Philippines.

Calzado stated, "Digital literacy is no longer just an advantag it’s a necessity for learners to participate fully in today’s society and pass the ALS A&E test. We want to ensure every examinee feels confident in their ability to navigate both the digital aspects of the assessment and real-world digital scenarios."

ALS teacher Darwin T. Tadifa shared that the TUBONG ALS program has been tailored to address gaps in learners’ knowledge and ALS is optimistic that this targeted review will help improve the passing rates.

The LS 6 Digital Literacy session marks a key milestone in the TUBONG ALS review initiative, equipping learners with vital skills that will benefit them not only for the upcoming examination but also for their personal and professional lives beyond the test.

ALS teachers attend collab session

Twenty-four Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers gathered for a Collaborative Expertise Session, focusing on preparing learners for the upcoming Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) Test and designing review workplans, February 26.

It was also attended by Darwin T. Tadifa, Jiezl U. Caaya and Jonah T. Tacuel, ALS teachers of the Schools District of Tubungan, Iloilo.

The session centered on strategic preparation for the A&E Test, with educators finalizing and analyzing Program Performance Assessment (PPA) results to measure impact, while sharing best practices to ensure every ALS learner has the necessary tools to succeed.

Education Program Specialists II Fernando Tagudando Jr. and Mila Grace Sorial joined the workshop with the presence of Education Supervisor in ALS Juan Adlai Caigoy.
"When teachers collaborate, learners win – this session was about engineering success for every ALS participant by aligning our efforts and leveraging each other’s strengths," said Caigoy.

"The PPA results have given us clear insights into where our learners need the most support, and the shared best practices will help us make our review sessions more engaging and effective," Caigoy concluded.

The Collaborative Expertise Session reinforces the district’s commitment to strengthening the ALS journey, with the unified message that collective effort among educators is key to unlocking learner potential and achieving success in the A&E Test.

“Education lift families out of poverty” - Gerona

“Education is the ladder that lifts families out of poverty, and ALS is your sturdy first step,” stressed Mrs. Patricia G. Gerona, Public Schools District Supervisor of Tubungan, Iloilo, in her meaningful message during the TUBONG ALS or Tubunganons’ Unity in Bringing Opportunities and Nurturing Growth for ALS Learners Success intensive review to the A&E Test takers, Tubungan CES CLC, March 24.

Gerona believed that education remains the most reliable pathway to dignity, livelihood and hope, and that completing ALS can reopen doors learners once thought were permanently shut.

“Education is not about age or titles. Senator Manny Pacquiao proved this when he finished his education through ALS. If he could persist, so can you, because your dreams are still within reach when you choose to learn,” Gerona added.

The Schools District Supervisor further conveyed that she was confident the ALS learners of Tubungan would pass the A&E Test because they had shown perseverance, discipline and a genuine desire to change their lives through knowledge and skills.

Mrs. Gerona urged everyone to take the exam with courage and calm, to pray, to prepare and to persist, reminding them that their ALS certificate is more than a document, it is a promise of a better future for themselves and their families.

TUBONG ALS launches through Pre Test administration

To ensure learners’ prior knowledge is measured before the beginning of review sessions under the TUBONG ALS initiative, ALS teachers administered the Pre Test in their respective Community Learning Centers, last week of January 2026.

The results of the Pre Test will guide ALS teachers in tailoring review sessions and competency-based activities, ensuring that learners receive support aligned with their individual strengths and areas for improvement.

TUBONG ALS, which stands for Tubunganons’ Unity in Bringing Opportunities and Nurturing Growth for ALS Learners’ Success, is a collaborative review program designed to strengthen academic competencies through unity, cooperation and shared responsibility.

Anchored in the spirit of bayanihan, the program brings together teachers, volunteers, stakeholders and the community to provide competency-based learning activities, review sessions and assessment-driven interventions.

“We believe that through TUBONG ALS, no learner will be left behind and every Tubunganon will be nurtured toward academic success,” said Darwin T. Tadifa, one of the ALS teachers.

Jeizl U. Ca-aya, ALS teacher added that the said initiative is more than just preparation for the A&E Test, it is a movement of growing together, ensuring learners gain confidence and opportunities for a better future of the ALS learners.

"TUBONG ALS empower ALS learners to succeed in the A&E Test as they pursue brighter futures for themselves and our community," conluded Jonah T. Tacuel, ALS Teacher.

Learners expressed eagerness to participate in the program, sharing that the unified approach of TUBONG ALS motivates them to strengthen their academic skills, build confidence and pursue better opportunities for their future.
