As part of the 100th year celebration of the Santa Cruz Chapel, the residents participated in a motorcade from Silanga, Tangub City to the Santa Cruz Chapel in Purok 4 RCIS, Poblacion, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. The motorcade was led by the Palomares family and served as a reenactment of how the devotion to Santa Cruz was brought to the community.
The Santa Cruz devotion originated in Santa Cruz, Tangub, and was later brought to Tubod by Pacita Maceda and Alice Maceda. It first began as a family devotion in a small chapel built beside the home of the Palomares family. Around the early 1970s, the devotion to Santa Cruz was shared with the entire community of Purok 4 RCIS, and since then, it has continued to be a strong and meaningful devotion for the people there.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Santa Cruz devotion being brought to Tubod โ a celebration of faith, history, and community that has lasted through generations.
After visiting the chapel, we also went to the cemetery to honor Lolo Diego โIgongโ Palomares Sr. and Lola Pacita Maceda Palomares, whose faith and devotion became the foundation of this tradition. Through them, the devotion to Santa Cruz was passed on and continues to live in the hearts of the community today.
