🇵🇭 Today, we honor the heroes who shaped our past and the heroes who continue to shape our future generations.

As we celebrate 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we remember the Filipinos whose courage, sacrifices, and unwavering love for the country paved the way for the freedom and opportunities we enjoy today. Their stories remind us that our nation was built not only through great victories but also through countless acts of courage, service, and selflessness.

But heroism did not end with the heroes written in our history books.

Heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they wear uniforms. Sometimes, they carry tools, teach in classrooms, care for the sick, work under the heat of the sun, serve communities, or simply work hard every day to provide for their families.

They are our 𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙚𝙨—the workers, teachers, healthcare workers, farmers, volunteers, parents, and ordinary Filipinos whose everyday sacrifices keep our communities moving and our country growing.

Today, we honor not only the heroes of yesterday but also the everyday heroes of today.

May their courage inspire us to serve with honesty, compassion, and dedication because sometimes, being a hero simply means choosing to make a difference—one act of service at a time.

Last July 31, 2026, the Tubigon Youth Peer Educators, together with Tubigon MSWDO and Bidlisiw Foundation Inc. - Philippines, stood as one for National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month (NATAM)—because silence protects traffickers, but awareness protects people. This activity was carried out with the support of Terre des Hommes Netherlands in the Philippines and co-funding from the European Union in the Philippines.

Taos-puso kaming nakikiramay sa mga pamilyang nawalan ng mahal sa buhay sa trahedyang naganap sa Ateneo de Zamboanga University. Kaisa rin kami sa pananalangin para sa paggaling ng mga nasaktan at sa paghilom ng buong komunidad. Nawa’y matagpuan ng mga naulila ang lakas at pag-asa sa gitna ng matinding dalamhati.

Habang nagpapatuloy ang opisyal na imbestigasyon, hinihikayat ang lahat na huwag magbahagi ng sensitibong mga larawan at video, hindi beripikadong impormasyon, o anumang haka-haka. Igalang natin ang privacy at dignidad ng mga biktima at kanilang pamilya, at sumangguni lamang sa mga opisyal at mapagkakatiwalaang pahayag.

Ang mga paaralan ay dapat maging ligtas na espasyo para sa lahat ng bata at kabataan. Nananawagan kami para sa mabilis, patas, at sensitibong imbestigasyon, sapat na psychosocial support sa mga apektado, at responsableng pagbabahagi ng impormasyon. Sa gitna ng dalamhati, pairalin natin ang malasakit, pananagutan, at pagkakaisa upang mapanatiling ligtas ang bawat bata. # # #

"𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺."

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the Tubigon Youth Peer Educators alongside Bidlisiw Foundation, successfully conducted its first School Caravan program at Mater Dei College, creating a vibrant space for youth empowerment and meaningful advocacy.

The event focused on 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 to become active advocates for safe and supportive environments. Through engaging sessions and interactive activities, MDCians deepened their understanding of peer support and community protection mechanisms.

They gathered, they listened, and they stepped up to be the voice of positive transformation! 💪

𝐓𝐘𝐏𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐁𝐎𝐇𝐎𝐋-𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓 | July 30, 2026
The Tubigon Youth Peer Educators (TYPE) travelled to the Bohol Cultural Center after being invited by local government officials to share and learn about relevant information on human trafficking. Along with ECPAT Youth and Children Advocates (EYCA), the two youth-led groups facilitated and designed booths complete with mini-games, booklets, and other informative materials to be provided during the Bohol-based World Day Against Trafficking (WDAT) in-person event. This activity was made possible through the generous support of Terre des Hommes Netherlands in the Philippines, with co-funding from the European Union in the Philippines, and in partnership with Foundation Inc. - Philippines.

The program was conducted with the intention of raising awareness on the matters of human trafficking, especially since July 30, 2026 is officially recognized as the World Day Against Trafficking In-persons.

According to a recent statement by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Philippines contributes to around 13,000 victims in the international total of 125,000. Despite this staggering amount, the IOM expects the actual number of human trafficking victims in the Philippines to be a lot higher, with widespread underreporting and gaps in detection becoming reasons why a large portion of said demographic is unable to be recognized.

Human trafficking takes away victims' autonomy and their human rights. It is crucial to be educated and to demand accountability and justice for all victims affected. Be aware, stay informed, and say .
