QUEZON CITYโ Tubalan Comprehensive National High School of Malita, Davao Occidental has garnered national recognition after securing 6th place in the 2025 National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools (NSSEFS) for the high school category.
Under the leadership of Regional Director EnP Alnulfo M. Alvarez of the DENR-EMB, the award highlights Tubalan Comprehensive National High Schoolโs strong commitment to integrating sustainability across all aspects of education. The school has effectively embedded environmental principles in governance, curriculum delivery, research, community engagement, and campus-based programs.
The award was received by the schoolโs teaching personnelโSchool Head Josie R. Dela Cruz, Master Teacher Amelita B. Bautista, and Division Education Program Supervisor and NSSEFS Focal Person Irine C. Mahinayโtogether with Jay Christoffer F. Bawi-in, Chief of the Environmental Solid Waste Management Section (ESWMS) of EMB XI.
The National Search for Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools (NSSEFS) is a flagship biennial initiative led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources โ Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), in partnership with various government agencies and stakeholders. The program honors schools nationwide that exhibit outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship through sustainable practices, climate action, and innovative ecological programs.

The awarding ceremony was held on April 22, 2026, at Seda Vertis North in Quezon City, in celebration of Earth Day.
