Encourage Families in Need and Care for Education (ENFANCE) Foundation is a non-stock,
non-profit and non-sectarian Filipino organization that was created in 2003 together with the technical support of Inter Aide, a French NGO. Our main objective is to bridge the gap between socially and economically depressed families to NGOs and public services which include health, education, social, and econom
ic services. Mission:
We assist and empower socially and economically depressed families of Manila in gaining access to welfare services and facilitating their development of self-reliance through community based activities. By diligently training and exposing our social workers with the help of our sponsors and donors, we ensure the delivery of unique, relevant and quality service that brings about upright and autonomous families that contribute to nation development. What we do:
The main project of ENFANCE is the Family Development Program or FDP that specifically aims to offer appropriate support and services to the very deprived families by enhancing their capacity to improve their social and economic living conditions. People of ENFANCE literally search for families in slum areas in the Philippines that needed guidance and social advices. They do home visits where in they engage in worthwhile talks with the target families to identify their issues about health, education, child rearing and other related social concerns that needed interventions. Based on the identified issues, the family is counseled on how to cope, change or improve their situation. As an extension of the FDP to the community, ENFANCE also does Pulong where in they conduct information dissemination in the community with the goal of clarifying issues, equipping knowledge and teaching new skills to its people. The topics of Pulongs are on health (TB, Family Planning, Nutrition and Common Diseases), legal Issues (birth certificate, CRC) and on family welfare (Stages of Child’s Development, Husband and wife relationship). ENFANCE also teaches the families how to budget and save up money. This is through a community-based banking called Piso-Pisong Ipon (PPI) service. There is no opening fee; there is no minimum balance required; and deposits can be made starting from 1 peso. Withdrawal is unlimited and can be done according to the family’s financial needs.
