Project Application:
The Pasig Revolving Tower, constructed in the 1970s, stands as a prominent example of Brutalist architecture in Asia. Following abandonment in the 1980s, restoration efforts commenced in 2013. Comprehensive structural investigation and analysis was conducted prior to the renovation of the structure with a unique framing and have a 360 degrees rotating restaurant floor at the 11th floor.
Methodology:
1. As-builting: Documenting existing structural components.
2. Inspection: Visual examination of structural integrity.
3. Probing: Investigating hidden structural elements.
4. Structural tests: Assessing material properties.
5. Analysis using Code-based Strength Evaluation: Utilizing Midas Gen and Design+ for modeling and simulation. Results Midas Gen and Design+ facilitated accurate modeling and analysis, overcoming complex framing challenges.
Key findings include:
1. Structural deficiencies: Identification of weakened elements.
2. Retrofitting design: Comprehensive recommendations.
3. Material properties: Enhanced understanding.
Midas Gen and Design+ enabled accurate modeling and analysis, addressing complex framing challenges. This facilitated informed retrofitting design decisions, ensuring structural integrity.
The restored Pasig Revolving Tower preserves Pasig City's architectural heritage, showcasing effective collaboration between technology and preservation efforts.
