In celebration of Global Handwashing Day (Oct. 15), WASH IN SCHOOL invites all students to join our Jingle-Making Contest! 🎤✨

Show off your creativity with a 30-second original jingle promoting the power of handwashing to keep our school safe and healthy! 💧👐

📅DEADLINE: October 15 (Wednesday)
🎵THEME: Handwashing: A Habit for Life!

🏆 The winning jingle will become our official handwashing anthem!


CRITERIA:

🔵Relevance to Theme 30%
- The lyrics clearly emphasize handwashing and hygiene.

- Melody, rhythm, and lyrics are unique and engaging.

🟢Clarity and Impact of Message 25%
- The message is easy to understand, memorable, and meaningful.

⚪️Performance and Presentation 20%
- Energy, expression, and overall appeal in the video performance.

MECHANICS:

1️⃣. The jingle must be original and 30 seconds long.

2️⃣. The lyrics must be related to handwashing and highlight its importance in health and hygiene.

3️⃣. The entry should be recorded as a video performance (solo or group).

4️⃣Upload or send your entry via the official WINS page within the submission period.

5️⃣. The winning jingle will be used as the official Handwashing Song to be played/sung during handwashing sessions in school.

🛡️ FIGHT DENGUE !🛡🦟

🦟WHAT IS DENGUE?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), dengue is a viral disease spread to humans through mosquito bites—specifically from infected mosquitoes.

🌊THE PROBLEM: STAGNANT WATER
Mosquitoes lay eggs in still water. Even a small amount can become a breeding ground. During the rainy season, water often collects unnoticed, increasing the risk.

🏠COMMON MOSQUITO BREEDING AREAS:
🌸 Flower pots
🛞 Old tires
🗑 Trash
🪣 Open containers
🌧️ Outdoor areas where water collects

⛑WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
•Clean and empty containers that hold water
•Keep water storage tightly covered
•Properly dispose of garbage
•Clear clogged drains, gutters, and roofs
•Use mosquito nets and repellents
•Wear long-sleeved clothes and pants
•Practice the 4S strategy from Department of Health

✋🛑TO STOP THE CONTINUATION OF DENGUE:
✅Search and destroy mosquito breeding places
✅Self-protect with repellents and nets
✅Seek early medical help if symptoms appear
✅Support fogging only during outbreaks

🦠 WHAT IS LEPTOSPIROSIS?
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection caused by Leptospira bacteria. It affects both humans and animals and is commonly spread through water contaminated with the urine of infected animals—especially rodents like rats.

🌊 HOW DOES IT SPREAD?
• Drinking or eating contaminated food or water
• Walking through floodwaters or dirty water
• Contact of infected urine with open cuts or wounds
• Infected urine entering the eyes, nose, or mouth

🚨 SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS TO WATCH FOR:
• High fever
• Headache and muscle pain
• Red eyes
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Skin rashes
• In severe cases: liver or kidney damage

⚠️ WHO’S AT RISK?
• People living in flood-prone areas
• Those frequently exposed to dirty/stagnant water
• Workers in high-risk jobs (e.g., farmers, garbage collectors, sewer workers)
• Individuals with poor access to clean water and sanitation
• Anyone with open wounds exposed to contaminated water

🛡️ HOW TO PREVENT LEPTOSPIROSIS:
• Avoid walking in floodwater
• Wear protective boots and gloves
• Boil drinking water if the source is uncertain
• Properly store and cover food
• Maintain cleanliness and control rodent populations

🏥 WHEN TO SEEK HELP:
If you experience flu-like symptoms after exposure to dirty water or animals, seek medical help right away. Early treatment with antibiotics is crucial to prevent severe complications.

In times of disaster, hindi lang pagkain ang kailangan ihanda! Make sure to pack a complete hygiene kit in case of evacuation.

🧴 ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴘᴀᴄᴋ ɪɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʜʏɢɪᴇɴᴇ ᴋɪᴛ:
• Alcohol or hand sanitizer
• Tissues or wet wipes
• Toothpaste & toothbrush
• Sanitary napkins (for women)
• Shampoo & conditioner (sachets preferred)
• Soap (bar or liquid)
• Small towel or handkerchief
• Comb or hairbrush
• Deodorant
• Nail cutter
• Cotton buds

🧳 ᴀᴅᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ ᴇssᴇɴᴛɪᴀʟs:
• Extra clothes & underwear
• Ziplocks or garbage bags (for wet/dirty clothes)
• First aid kit (band-aids, ointments, etc.)
• Prescription medications (if any)
• Face masks (at least 2–3 pcs)
• Tumbler or water bottle
• Flashlight or mini emergency light
• Whistle (for emergencies)

💡 ᴛɪᴘ: Keep your kit in a waterproof pouch or resealable bag, and store it where you can grab it agad-agad in case of emergency!
