Girl Scouts of SDO Abra Dish Up Fun and Nutrition at Peñarubbia

What a funfilled and fulfilling day it was for the first-ever gathering of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in SDO Abra at Peñarubbia today. This awesome event was all about celebrating Nutrition Month with a basketful of fun and educational activities.

Our Junior Girl Scouts had a super informative time at a symposium led by none other than Ate Krisa, learning all about healthy eating before whipping up some yummy desserts. They even put their brains to the test in the Nutri Quiz, with the bright sparks from Bumagcat ES, Bagalay ES, and Velasco ES proudly snagging 4th Runner-Up! Way to go, Juniors!

Meanwhile, the Senior Girl Scouts showed off their culinary skills with a Main Dish Cooking and Presentation competition – talk about making stomachs rumble! They also got creative in a Poster Making Contest. Our talented Senior Scouts from AIS represented strong in both the Nutri Quiz and Poster Making, grabbing 5th Place in the latter.

And let's not forget our Cadet Girl Scouts, who kept things refreshing with a Juice Making challenge. Huge shoutouts are in order for Gaddani National High School! Their Cadet Girl Scouts secured 2nd place in the Juice Making, and their Senior Girl Scouts absolutely crushed it, becoming the Champions in the Main Dish Cooking!

We also need to give a big round of applause to our fantastic titas who served as judges in the different contested events, Tita Cathy, Tita Cielo, and Tita Shirley, who had the tough job of picking the winners.

A massive congratulations to all the Girl Scouts and our wonderful Titas of Tayum for helping other Titas in making this event such a success! Their hard work and dedication, all under the excellent supervision of their District Field Adviser, Mam Brigith Balneg, truly shone through. It was a day filled with learning, teamwork, and, of course, lots of delicious food!

Such a day to remember☘️

Once again the Girl Scout Tayum Family gathered together to attend the GS Patrol Leaders' Training Course for 1 day at Dolores Central School.

With a stunning number of participants which comprises 153 junior scouts and 11 Troop leaders coming from the 7 schools of Tayum District with the always admirable District Field Adviser of Tayum, Mam Brigith Balneg, again, we were praised being the largest contingent.

With the high caliber and well versed trainers of the GSP Abra council, the girls enjoyed the 1-day training, being together and gained new friends from the other 3 districts, Malibcong, Lagangilang and Dolores. The Council Chief Executive, CID Chief Mam Hedwig Belmes, joined the group later in the afternoon and made it more fun by reviewing what was discussed earlier this morning.

As the sun starts to set, the girls, bid farewell to titas and friends for as they returned to their comfort zones again, they gained lessons to bring in the school camporals and the most awaited 45th Provincial GSP encampment.

Tayum District Girl Scouts Successfully Execute Environment and Community Partnership Day Activities

Tayum District, September 19, 2024– In a commendable display of community spirit and environmental responsibility, the Girl Scouts of Tayum District conducted two impactful activities today.

The first initiative focused on Community Partnership, where Girl Scouts collaborated with local Day Care centers to provide nutritious meals. The girls prepared and served healthy macaroni soup and Pancit Miki to the children, fostering a sense of care and support within the community.

Simultaneously, schools that had postponed their Environment Day because of the suspension of classes took action to enhance their surroundings. The girls engaged in a cleanup effort, addressing the school vicinity, parking lots, and unsightly areas within the community. They implemented waste segregation practices and participated in the "taob" activity, designed to combat the spread of dengue virus and some of the Senior Scouts did a tree planting activity.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Brigith Balneg, the District Field Adviser of Tayum, and the troop leaders, the activities were executed smoothly, showcasing the girls’ responsiveness and commitment to both community welfare and environmental health.
