As the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) of Tayug National High School, we’re celebrating the lungs of our planet today. 🌎🍃

From the mystical Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Japan to the towering giants of the Amazon and the Black Forest in Germany, forests are the heartbeat of our Earth. Even right here in Pangasinan—from the mangroves of Alaminos to the mountain watersheds of Mangatarem—our local "green walls" protect us and keep our air clean. 🇵🇭💚

Forests aren't just collections of trees; they are homes, protectors, and our best defense against climate change.

𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗜! 💚

Ngayong buwan ng Enero, kaisa ang Philippine Association of Environmental Science Students (PAESS) sa pagdiriwang ng 𝒁𝒆𝒓𝒐 𝑾𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉!

Sa pamamagitan ng 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘕𝘰. 760, idineklara ang bawat buwan ng Enero bilang “𝘡𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘞𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩” noong Mayo 5, 2014. Ang nasabing proklamasyon ay alinsunod sa 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘈𝘤𝘵 9003 𝘰 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘞𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 2020 na naglalayon na mapalawak ang pangkapaligirang kamalayan ng mga mamamayan at mahikayat ang kanilang partisipasyon sa mga iba’t ibang programa ukol sa ecological waste management.

Ang “zero waste” ay isang adbokasiya na isinusulong ang paggawa at maayos na pamamahala sa mga produkto at iba pang mga proseso para mabawasan ang mga basurang nakokolekta sa iba’t ibang industriya. Nais nitong itaguyod ang pagkonserba at pagrekober ng mga resources, hindi ang pagtatapon ng mga ito sa mga maling lugar o pagsusunog sa mga ito. Hangad nito na magabayan ang mga mamamayan na baguhin ang mga nakasanayang gawi na nakakasira sa ating kalikasaan, bagkus ay simulan ang pagsasagawa ng sustainable na mga gawain katulad ng pagreresiklo.

Ang 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 ay isa ring konseptong malaki ang maiaambag sa pamamahala ng mga basurang nakokolekta mula sa iba’t ibang industriya. Ang modelong ito ay naglalayong mabago ang nakagawiang pagtatapon ng mga gamit kung ito ay nasisira na. Kahit sira o luma, sa pamamagitan ng iba’t ibang stratehiya katulad ng pagkukumpuni at pagreresiklo, ang dating basura, ngayon ay mapapakinabangan pa!

Kaya, ngayong bagong taon, nawa’y masimulan natin paunti-unti ang pagsasabuhay ng prinsipyo ng ‘zero waste’ at ganoon din ang unti-unting pagtangkilik sa konsepto ng circular economy!

Bilang mga mag-aaral ng Agham Pangkalikasan, kami ay patuloy na magiging kaisa sa pagsulong ng mga iba’t ibang kilos-pangkaligiran, lalo’t lalo na sa mga inisyatibang may layong mapangalagaan ang ating kapaligiran.

Lagi at laging para sa bayan, para sa kalikasan—pagsilbihan ang taumbayan!
