WHAT IS KABALIKAT CIVICOM?
Kabalikat Civicom is a large, nationwide Philippine civic organization of volunteer communicators using radio and internet to provide public assistance, especially during emergencies, disasters, and for community welfare, working with government agencies like the PNP and DILG for nation-building. Founded in the early 1990s by Gil R. de la Torre, it started with two-way radios but expanded to mobile networks, aiming to serve humanity and promote discipline and cooperation.
Mission: Serve humanity through communication, foster community spirit (bayanihan), and assist during disasters and calamities.
Services: Provide public assistance, coordinate emergency responses, and link various sectors for national development.
Network: Operates through chapters across the Philippines, utilizing VHF, HF, CB, and web-based communication.
Partnerships: Collaborates with government bodies like the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Values: Emphasizes democracy, respect for authority, commitment to God, country, and the public welfare.
History: Evolved from "Kabalikat Radiocom" and officially registered with the SEC in 1992/1994, growing from a radio group to a broader communication network.
In essence, Kabalikat Civicom uses communication as a tool for social responsibility, bridging gaps between communities and authorities for public good.
