TAGUMPAY PARA SA EDUKASYON! Last Mile Schools Act ni Cong.

In August 2022, just before schools reopened in Balete, a town in Aklan province in the Philippines, a 32-year-old man named Chris Francisco walked up to the schools carrying a sack.

Chris has Autism Spectrum Disorder. According to GMA News, he lost his parents early to illness, was raised by his grandparents, and was bullied by students and others because of his condition. His aunt said she had to confront the bullies herself.

None of that stopped what he had been planning.

For more than two years, Chris had been visiting the same shop in Poblacion, buying crayons little by little with money he saved up. The shop owner, Rechel Delgado, confirmed he kept coming back for over two years before ever revealing what the purchases were for.

Inside the sack were 160 boxes of crayons. Chris donated 80 boxes to Calizo Elementary School and 80 to Calizo National High School, so the children would have something to draw with when classes started.

A teacher at the elementary school, Juliet Justo, posted about the donation on Facebook on August 24, 2022. The post went viral, and fellow teachers said it moved them to tears.

Asked why he did it, Chris said he simply wanted the children to be happy.

"Generosity is a blessing from heaven."
