PROJECT YAPAK: Walking Together in Service to the Aeta Community

STA. JULIANA, CAPAS, TARLAC — The spirit of service took another step forward as Envision Tarlac and Don Bosco Tarlac, together with the Knights of the Altar, Auxilium and Juventus Sodality, and the Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Group Three (TOG3) headed by Col. Juji Grant Generalao, PAF (GSD), conducted Project YAPAK, an outreach initiative for the Aeta communities of Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac.

The activity opened with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Jojo Valenzuela, SDB, of Don Bosco Tarlac. The celebration became a meaningful moment of unity as members of the Aeta community welcomed the activity despite differences in religious beliefs. The gathering showed how service can create a space where people come together, listen, and share in one another’s presence.

After the mass, volunteers and partner organizations immediately proceeded with the distribution of grocery packs, food, and other prizes prepared for the community. Volunteers worked together to organize the distribution, assist families, and ensure that the beneficiaries were accommodated throughout the activity.

Project YAPAK served approximately 200 families, reaching more or less 400 beneficiaries from the community. Beyond the goods distributed, the activity provided an opportunity for volunteers to engage directly with the families, build relationships, and experience the realities of the community they came to serve.

More than an outreach activity, Project YAPAK became an experience of walking with the community. It reminded every volunteer that service is not only about what we give, but also about the people we meet, the stories we hear, and the connections we build along the way.

LOOK: The Envision Catholic Youth Movement (ECYM) continues to deepen its journey of faith through encounters with the rich traditions of the Catholic Church.

Recently, members of ECYM attended the Traditional Latin Mass at the Baguio Cathedral of Our Lady of the Atonement, entering into a celebration marked by silence, reverence, and the beauty of centuries-old liturgical tradition.

In the quiet of the chapel, the sacred rites invite the faithful to pause, pray, and rediscover the profound mystery of the Holy Mass. For ECYM, moments such as these are part of our continuing formation, learning, encountering, and growing in faith while appreciating the diverse expressions of Catholic worship handed down through generations.

As a youth movement rooted in faith and service, ECYM continues to seek opportunities that bring young people closer to Christ and His Church, recognizing that formation is not only found in what we do for others, but also in how we deepen our relationship with God.

To God be the glory for the gift of faith, tradition, and the opportunity to journey together as young Catholics.
