On the Solemnity of Pentecost Sunday, the Church celebrates her birth on the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the Virgin Mary, fifty days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Most Rev. Roberto C. Mallari, D.D. reminded the faithful that The Spirit empowers us to embrace the mission entrusted to us through our blessings, gifts, and achievements. To serve in the Church is both a gift and a mission from the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus sent His disciples to proclaim the Gospel and forgive sins: "Peace be with you! As the Father sent me, so I send you." (John 20:21)
The bishop also highlighted that we must share our giftsโthey are not meant to be concealed. When we receive the Holy Spirit, He kindles a fire in our hearts, a fire that enables us to communicate and to foster unity in the Church, so that we may truly live as one.
