National CPR Day | "Hawak Mo ang Beat"

Every heartbeat matters, and every second counts. Today, we proudly joined the "Hawak Mo ang Beat" campaign in celebration of National CPR Day, together with the Community of Barangay Telaje and the Philippine National Police.

By learning CPR, we empower ourselves to respond confidently during emergencies and become part of a community that is ready to save lives. One skill can make the difference between life and death.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this meaningful initiative. Together, let's build a safer, more prepared, and life-saving community.

Hawak Mo ang Beat. Hawak Mo ang Buhay.

Today, July 17, 2026, we celebrated CPR Day with a powerful reminder that saving a life begins with one simple decision: to learn, to be prepared, and to care enough to act.

Together with our dedicated partners from Barangay Telaje, Philippine National Police, PDRRMO, and RC143, Philippine Red Cross Surigao del Sur Chapter brought CPR and life-saving skills closer to the community.

Almost 200 individuals gathered, learned, and took part in CPR demonstrations and life-saving skills training. Each one gaining the knowledge and confidence that could one day mean the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

Because in an emergency, seconds become precious. A heartbeat becomes a prayer. And a pair of trained hands can become someone’s greatest hope.

You may never know when the moment will come.

It may happen in your home.
In your community.
On the road.
Or beside someone you love.

And when that moment comes, you may be the only person who knows what to do.

So learn CPR. Learn life-saving skills. Be prepared.

Because heroes do not always wear uniforms. Sometimes, they are ordinary people who chose to learn how to save a life. ❤️‍🩹

One community. One life-saving skill. One heartbeat at a time. 🚑✨

The program introduced children to the basics of hazards, risks, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) through interactive discussions. Learners were taught how to identify common hazards, understand preparedness measures, what to do before, during and after a disaster and recognize how climate change can affect disasters.

Participants also received a Hands-Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) orientation and demonstration. They learned the importance of calling for help and performing chest compressions during a cardiac emergency.

The activity strengthened the learners' awareness of disaster preparedness and emergency response, while equipping them with basic lifesaving skills for safer schools and communities.
