They didnโt chase the lead, they owned it.
In quiz bowl, momentum is everything, and from the very first round, Ely John C. Punzalan, Von Lander F. Trumpeta, and Ivan Karl L. Lobaton made one thing clear: they were not there to catch up. They were there to set the pace.
Even in the opening rounds, often considered the โeasyโ stage, the trio was already pulling ahead. While other teams were still finding their rhythm, TUPVโs representatives had already locked into theirsโanswers flowing naturally, decisions coming quickly, and confidence building with every correct response. It wasnโt arrogance, it was assurance. The kind that comes from preparation, trust, and knowing exactly what each member brings to the table.
Their strategy was simple, yet powerful: divide and conquer. With topics distributed among them, each member carried a domain they could command with certainty. But what truly defined their performance was not just individual mastery, it was how seamlessly those pieces came together. There was no scrambling for control, no overlap of doubt, only a steady exchange of certainty. When one stepped forward, the others stepped back with trust.
That trust became their greatest advantage.
As the rounds progressed and questions grew more complex, the trio remained composed. Even in moments where answers werenโt immediately clear, there was no visible hesitation, only quiet confidence in each otherโs judgment. They werenโt just answering questions; they were reinforcing a system that worked. A system built on shared preparation, mutual respect, and an unspoken understanding that they would carry one another through any uncertainty.
For Ely, the journey to that moment was far from simple, but it made the victory even more meaningful. โSo first of all, happy gid ko to take the opportunity na maging one of the participants sang quiz bowl despite joining another national competition which is ang START a TON!: Data and AI Innovation Challenge. Throughout the preparation week, gaka struggle ko magfocus since we decided to split the topics to 3 each para mas makafocus kami on particular topics. With Manong Ivan and Manong Von, I feel at ease knowing nga I have capable seniors who will always be there kay super smooth sailing lang sang competition proper plus we support and put our trust sa isa kag isa. Even on questions nga indi kami sure and blank gid kami, we trusted one another sa kung ano ang makaya namon. And it's the very essence of teamwork nga naglead sa amon to fulfill what we manifested: ang mag champion and represent our school and the region sa national stage.โ
Their dominance was not built in a single round, it was sustained, controlled, and never relinquished. From the first question to the final tally, they held their ground at the top, proving that true excellence is not just about knowing the answers, but about owning the moment from start to finish.
Looking ahead, the team carries not just a title, but a purpose. โWith this experience, we aim to fully equip ourselves for the national stage and hopefully bring another distinction or award, especially ang National Championship. But for now, thankful gid kami to all our instructors and facultiesโฆ This achievement is a fruit of all the efforts we exerted to bring pride in ourselves, to our school, and to everyone who walked with us. Thank you and see you Nationals!โ
And if their performance is any indication, they wonโt just arrive at the national stage prepared, theyโll arrive ready to lead once again.
