As our final requirement for the subject, we are setting up interactive booths to showcase the highlights, insights, and advocacy work from our recent Service-Learning Programs (S-LPs). From conducting on-the-ground legal education seminars to translating those immersive community experiences into visual exhibits, this gallery walk is a celebration of indigenous rights, heritage, and the law in action.

Under the guidance and supervision of our professor, Atty. Anj Razo, we invite you to explore our projects and learn with us.

PADAYON: Expanding Opportunities for IP Youth to Pursue Education ✊📚

The St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. – College of Law, through the Indigenous Peoples and the Law Class (Group 3), proudly presents PADAYON: Expanding Opportunities for IP Youth to Pursue Education, a service-learning initiative dedicated to empowering Indigenous Peoples (IP) youth of Brgy. Anitapan, Mabini, Davao de Oro.

Grounded in the principles of the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act (IPRA), this project seeks to raise awareness of the fundamental rights of IP communities, particularly the rights to education, equality, and cultural integrity. Through a community-based symposium and information drive, we aim to bridge gaps in access to legal knowledge and educational opportunities.

✨ In addition, FREE LEGAL CONSULTATION will be available with our partner lawyers to assist community members with their legal concerns.

In partnership with the LGU of Mabini and the local community, we stand in solidarity with our IP youth, because informed minds build empowered communities. 💡🌱

Through legal education and strong community partnership, we aim to empower our Indigenous brothers and sisters by strengthening their knowledge of their rights under the law. This service-learning activity is made possible in partnership with the United Indigenous Cultural Community of San Agustin, the Barangay Tribal Council, and the IPMR.

SMCTI IPRA Law students launch Project AGAK; empowers Kagan Community

The Indigenous Peoples and the Law class of St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI) College of Law successfully launched Project AGAK on April 8, 2026, bringing legal empowerment to the Kagan Tribe in Purok 1-C, Tugan Centro, Brgy. Madaum, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

The activity was collaborated with the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) and Sanguniang Kabataan Council of Brgy. Madaum, headed by Representative Datu Allen M. Arimao and Chairman Hon. Allen B. Monque, respectively.

Project AGAK, which stands for Amumahon, Giyahan ug Ampingan ang Kabilin, draws its name from the Bisaya word "agak," which literally means to lead someone by the hand or to guide someone who is walking. The service-learning initiative was designed to further guide the Kagan community by providing a seminar on Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) delivered through a plenary talk.

St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. College of Law invites you to KATUNGOD IN ACTION on April 11, 2026 at the Malinawon Gym, Brgy. Malinawon, Mawab, Davao de Oro.

We have a two-part event lined up to serve the community:

🌾 PROGRAM ON INDIGENOUS RIGHTS & GOVERNANCE
The first part of our event is a dedicated community-based program focusing on rights, governance, and protection.
👉 This session is specially designed for and open to Indigenous Peoples (IP) members of Barangay Malinawon.

⚖️ FREE LEGAL CONSULTATION Need legal advice or assistance? Following the main program, our team will be providing Free Legal Services!
👉 This consultation is open to ALL RESIDENTS of the entire municipality of Mawab. Whether you are an IP or non-IP member, from Malinawon or any other barangay in Mawab, you are welcome to avail of this free service!
