We, The CAMERA CLUB of TAGUM CITY, organized in 2010; a non profit and non stock organization; is a group of hobbyists and professionals who share the same passion in the field of photography. Back in 2010, my uncle who was still working in Dubai is a hobbyist photographer had a close friend who is currently working and presently up to now in the City Information Office of Tagum his name is sir E
dwin Lasquite mostly known in Facebook as “Madayaw” was his classmate in a Photography school in Dubai, namely Lightform Internationals Photography Guild. He invited me to join with him in photography events of Tagum and I met and became friends with his colleagues such as sir Leo, Sir Francis and Sir Louie. And I brought up the idea with sir Edwin to organize a photography club since there was no existing camera club in Tagum. Since sir Edwin is working in the CIO of Tagum he is not allowed or in a proper way he is working with the City of Tagum and as a CIO officer he don’t want to be labeled as bias with other media outfit. As he is working with a lot of media personnel in Tagum and outside vice versa. In the year 2011, when sir Edwin informed me if I want to join of a basic photography workshop in Tagum, I did not hesitate to join the said workshop. And the workshop was entitled “Basics and Beyond 2011” and was facilitated by sir Chiaw Yap of CCD in that workshop I met sir Astro, Rosemarie Quirante my cousin, Carlo Chan, Mam Kits Quilla, Father Boyet de Los Reyes and sir Edwin also attended the said workshop. With the new set of friends I made we decided and I created a club through web especially in Facebook and in consonance with the workshop we have attended I named it as “Basics and Beyond”. And at that time I was still studying as a High School student in Letran De Davao of Tagum. In real essence it was a club that we can get in touched with my batchmate of the said workshop. And with that, I spoke and convinced sir Astro that we organize a photography club in Tagum. As I searched in the web about camera clubs, I found out that mostly photography clubs in the Philippines used their hometown as their “Base” as a photography club such as Camera Club of Davao of sir Chiaw. So, the previous club name was “Basic and Beyond” I changed it and give the Birth name “Camera Club of Tagum”. We attended a Photo Safari in ComVal Province in the Municipality of Monkayo we affiliated ourselves as members of Camera Club of Tagum, even though at that time the club did not yet existed in actuality. Then, on September 2011 with the guidance of sir Astro, myself and the founding members of “Basics and Beyond” we started the creation of “Camera Club of Tagum”. And as they say it "the rest is history"…..
