To bridge the gap between classroom concepts and real-world industry applications, Civil Engineering students of St. Maryโ€™s College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI) embarked on a comprehensive site visit across major infrastructural developments in Davao City last October 5, 2026.

Organized under the course Construction Methods and Project Management (TPCC 16), the educational tour was guided and supervised by Engr. Jefferson P. Lugo, ME-CE. The field immersion allowed the future engineers to explore the operational grounds of Frey-Fil Corporation, observe the ongoing structural developments at Northtown Residences, and witness the large-scale civil works of the Davao City Bypass Construction Project.

Through this on-ground exposure, the students gained firsthand insights into heavy equipment operations, modern construction methodologies, and practical project management. The experiential learning opportunity aims to further equip them with the technical competencies and industry perspective required in the engineering field.

Focusing on schools with at least 50 examinees, the list placed UM Davao City at 27th overall with a 50.96% passing rate (80 of 157 passed). Saint Mary's Collegeโ€“Tagum placed in a tie for 28th, posting a 50.00% passing rate with 70 of 140 examinees passing.

Both schools surpassed the 37.14% national passing benchmark, highlighting Southern Mindanaoโ€™s solid engineering training.

Seventy Marian engineers successfully passed the September 2026 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination (CELE) held on September 26โ€“27, marking another milestone for the Saint Maryโ€™s College of Tagum, Inc. (SMCTI) Civil Engineering Program.

The successful examinees achieved an overall passing rate of 50.00% and a national passing rate of 37.14%, demonstrating their perseverance, competence, and dedication throughout their journey toward becoming licensed civil engineers.

Their achievement reflects the collective efforts of the examinees, faculty members, mentors, and the entire Marian community in upholding the institutionโ€™s commitment to Faith, Excellence, and Service. With their success, the 70 new Marian engineers carry forward the SMCTI legacy of excellence as they take the next step in building safer, stronger, and more sustainable communities.

The Roaring Lions of the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) secured the overall championship in Intramurals 2026, held from September 14โ€“18, following five days of spirited competition, athletic excellence, and camaraderie among the participating clusters.

In a close race against the Healing Phoenix of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), the Roaring Lions clawed through and secured the championship title, capping their campaign with a decisive display of determination and teamwork.

Throughout the five-day competition, the teamโ€™s students - athletes and representatives demonstrated their skills and competitive spirit across various sports and cultural events. Their performances reflected not only athletic ability but also discipline, cooperation, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

The victory marked the culmination of a hard-fought battle among the Valiant Wolves, Healing Phoenix, Wise Dragons, and Roaring Lions, with each cluster bringing its own strength, passion, and determination to the competition embodying the theme, โ€œBeyond Victory: Building Marian Character Through Sports, Rooted in Faith, Committed to Service, and Inspired by Excellence.โ€
