Ampoy taught Leon Kilat the Mystical Order of Pangamot, or Eskrima, in his home at Zaragosa Aloginsan. Leon Kilat, a hero, fought against the Spanish colonization of the country. He was a ferocious warrior of the late 18th century and a revolutionary leader who fought against Spanish colonial rule and is most famous for leading the Tres de Abril revolt in Cebu, 1898. He honed his combat skills, propelling him to a prestigious position in Philippine history. At the height of his abilities, he possessed a supernatural power that rendered bladed weapons and gun bullets ineffective. Although the relationship between Ampoy and Leon Kilat is not documented in history, it has been remembered by individuals familiar with the mythology surrounding their experiences, including Rene Canencia, Ampoy's great-great-grandson, who can recount stories that often reflect the traditions passed down from his parents, both of whom were eskrimadors of the Cebu South. Many Pangamot or Eskrima techniques originated from the Enigmatic Masters, who secretly inspired practitioners during the earlier period. A few notable practitioners known for their extraordinary abilities in Pangamot or Eskrima include Simplicio (Pacis) Bacus and Albino Sator Mancao, who was a writer of divine words (oraciones) (mga oracion ng Doce Pares, San Meguel, Santiago, Dius Amahan, etc.) and tattooed these words onto their practitioners for protection in the 18th century. The source of their Mystical Order Formation lessons was the Enigmatic Masters, with one of the key figures being Adriano Dela Conception, who is famously known as General Lolo Adriano Dela Conception by millions of different spiritual practitioners at the current age, especially in the mid-19th century. Gil Sator, who lived in the early 1900s, was another notable practitioner. The practitioners lived in the neighboring barangay Buenavista, sitio Caraatan, and were relatives of Ampoy and Pating Canencia in Zaragoza. Many names are missing from our page, but they are part of the history of the Enigmatic Masters of Pangamot or Eskrima.

Before leading a revolution, Leon Kilat worked humble jobs in Cebu: a baker, drugstore assistant, and circus hand. It was in that circus where fate introduced him to a Katipunero who would recruit him into the Katipunan. With time, he rose to become Lieutenant General of the Katipuneros in Cebu, leading the famed Tres de Abril uprising against Spain in 1898.

What earned him his nickname—“Kilat” (lightning)—were his rumored supernatural powers: a magic handkerchief that made him vanish, bullets that never seemed to hit him, and a knack for appearing out of nowhere, as recounted even by fellow revolutionaries like Andres Abellana.

But like many great heroes, betrayal ended his journey. Just five days after leading the rebellion, he was killed in Carcar—stabbed, beaten, and broken by men afraid of Spanish vengeance. They made sure "lightning" wouldn’t strike twice.
