Beyond the Lens, Into Reality!

The Political Science Society highlighted insight and reflection through PoliSee 2025, themed “Beyond the Lens: Exploring the Reality of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare System.” Held on November 19, 2025, at Skills Lab 817, University of Makati, the seminar offered meaningful discussions that shed light on the challenges and conditions within the juvenile justice and welfare system.

Through open dialogue and shared learning, PoliSee 2025 emphasized that truly understanding social issues begins when we look closer—beyond the lens.

HIGHLIGHTS: The Commission on Elections of the Political Science Society conducted an online meeting via Google Meet on September 29, 2025, to formally welcome and brief the newly appointed Commissioners.

The meeting covered the roles, duties, and responsibilities of the Commission for the Academic Year 2025–2026.

A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Philippine Political Science Association (PPSA), represented by President Dr. Reynold D. Agnes, and the University of Makati (UMAK), represented by President Dr. Elyxzur C. Ramos. This MOU signing reflects UMAK's dedication to enhancing its political science program while aligning with PPSA's mission to promote the discipline of Political Science. The event was witnessed by Dr. Anthony Lawrence Borja, the PPSA-NCR Representative, and Dr. Sonia Pimentel, Dean of the College of Governance and Public Policy (CGPP) at UMAK. It was further supported by various UMAK officials and faculty members led by Chair Mr. Duke Thomas Dolorical.

Before the signing, Dr. Agnes and Dr. Borja provided insights into the political science curriculum in accordance with CMO No. 51 series of 2017 and shared innovative teaching strategies for the discipline. Mr. Jazztin Jairum Manalo, a member of the PPSA Board of Trustees and Head of the Committee on Special Projects, articulated the vision and mission of PPSA, outlining its current projects and programs. This engaging half-day event was also attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ederson Tapia, Dean Sonia Pimentel, along with UMAK faculty and students, underscoring the collaborative effort to foster growth in the field of Political Science.
