We sat down for lunch with Mr. Ryan Abis and team from SureVax, and walked away with something we’re genuinely excited to share!
🎉We’ve signed a partnership with SureVax Animal Bite Center and Vaccination Services to offer discounted rates on post-exposure medical care for anyone who gets involved in an incident with a community cat in Acacia Estates, whether that’s a resident, a visitor, or someone from our property management team.
During the conversation that led to this signing, we learned that many people are afraid, or even angry, towards community cats. A lot of that fear comes from things we’ve been told rather than things that are actually true. Rabies is real, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. But most of what people fear isn’t the disease itself, it’s not knowing what to do if something happens, or what can be done to prevent it in the first place.
It is never a choice of choosing who is more important to care for: the people, or the cats who live among us. We believe coexistence thrives in security and compassion, and that means showing up for both.
That’s why we see this partnership as one part of a bigger picture. The discounted care SureVax provides is our reactive measure, making sure cost is never a reason someone delays getting treated.
Just as important are the conversations and education we keep having with our community, the proactive side that helps prevent incidents before they start. When people feel safe, they’re able to be kind. And when there’s a real system in place, not just good intentions, everyone gets to feel that safety.
