Did You Know?

The Taguig River Festival, also known as Santa Anang Banak Festival is a celebration in honor of Saint Anne—the patron saint of Taguig City.

According to history, in 1578 the community (then known as 'taga-giik') faced a devastating crisis after their harvests failed. Amid the crisis, they believed that Saint Anne and the young Mary appeared and led the people to a river miraculously filled mullet (banak) that provided them with food and hope.

Since then, the 'Pasubo' tradition has been observed every July that shows the expression of gratitude for the river's abundance and remembrance of faith, resilience and, community.
