IS THIS YOUR CAT?

Another new male gray-and-white cat with a short, bent tail has been spotted around Abaca–Adelfa since September 4.

He is very polite and friendly to people. We hope he can find his way home, if he has one.

If he follows you around, please do not allow him to ride the elevator. We do not want cats learning to do that, no matter how cute they may be.😅

Please also be patient as he tries to find his place in our colony, he sometimes ends up at Abaca/Adelfa lobby... but he just sits quietly and doesn't bother anyone. Do not approach/pet him for everyone's safety.

‼️ HELP US HELP TIGER (urinary issue: struvite crystals) 🐯

The cat world apparently still has more surprises for us. 😭

Thanks to everyone's help, we were able to secure enough food + litter for September. But our vet/emergency fund is still empty... and now we need some help for one of the new cats, Tiger.

WHAT HAPPENED
We recently contained Tiger for kapon, and have been observing him to make sure he's healthy enough for surgery.

We found blood in his litterbox, so we rushed him to PV Animal Shelter Tuktukan for a checkup yesterday. Urinary problems can become serious very quickly in male cats, especially if a blockage develops, so we didn't want to take any chances.

🩺 FINDINGS + TREATMENT
Tiger's urine examination showed:

• Numerous RBCs — consistent with blood in the urine (hematuria)
• Numerous WBCs — indicating inflammation and/or possible infection
• Struvite crystals — which can be associated with urinary stone formation

He has started treatment and will need a follow-up urine sediment test on Sept 12. A bacterial culture and sensitivity test (P 2.5k), urinalysis (P 1k) was also recommended.

For now, the goal is to get his urinary issue under control and make sure he is healthy enough for kapon.

💸 CURRENT EXPENSES: ₱1,878.50

• Veterinary professional fee — ₱500
• Urine sediment test — ₱500
• Medications — ₱878.50

Thankfully, we already had some of his prescribed medicines on hand, so we only needed to purchase Uticare (₱350) and Rowatinex (₱528.50).

We also have a box of Royal Canin Urinary S/O wet food left from Ponkan's case. But we would need to restock by next week.

Our already-empty medical/emergency fund needs replenishing so we can continue providing his medical needs...

HELP US HELP THIS GOODEST BOY
Tiger has been such a good boy through all of this. 🥹 He's patiently let us give him tablets and even capsules straight by mouth. No small feat, as anyone who's medicated a cat knows. 😭

He's a relatively new arrival, popping up around late July/early August, and hasn't quite found his place in the colony yet, our OGs aren't thrilled about this new casanova chasing and serenading them.😅 Getting him neutered will be an important step toward helping him settle in.

We just want to get this sweet boy well, get him neutered, and help him find his place in the colony. ❤️

‼️ FOSTER HOME NEEDED FOR NEW KITTEN 🐱

Yet another kitten was found at Abaca parking this afternoon — our 7th new arrival since June.😭

We urgently need a foster home, even just for 2 weeks, for the kitten’s initial quarantine and observation period.

All new kittens need to be quarantined and observed, and treated for any issues (if needed), before they can be placed in our cat room with the other adoptable cats. This is necessary to protect everyone from potential illness and prevent outbreaks.

We are already stretched thin. We do not have unlimited space, funds, or manpower. We already badly need help just to keep taking care of the cats already in our care.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

We are NOT an animal shelter.

Please DO NOT bring or dump cats, especially kittens, in Ivory Wood. We cannot continue absorbing new cats on top of those already depending on us.

🩺 HELP US WEATHER OUR BIGGEST INFLUX YET

Since June, 6 new cats have arrived at Ivory Wood — our biggest rainy season influx since we started in 2022. Three are kittens. Some arrived sick. All need varying levels of intake care, veterinary attention, and eventually, kapon.

And while we're trying to absorb these new arrivals responsibly, our existing colony still needs to be fed and cared for every single day. This has stretched our time, space, and resources very thin — and we need help to get through this.

But first, some good news. ❤️

🎉 Ponkan has finally recovered from hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease).
🎉 We successfully held a vet event + meet & greet with our adoptables last July 18.
🎉 And Tikoy found his forever home.

Those wins mattered. They gave us a little breathing room and reminded us why all the work is worth it.

But then came the rainy season. And with it, more new cats than we've ever had to handle at once, including Pichi who still needs dental treatment, and urgent medical cases that can't wait.

‼️ IS THIS YOUR LOST PET KITTEN?

A 2–3 month old calico kitten was found last night wandering alone at the Abaca lobby.

We are currently trying to determine if she belongs to a resident, was recently dumped, or is a stray who found her way here.

If you recognize this kitten or know who she belongs to, please send us a message. We would really appreciate any shares within Acacia Estates to help us find her family.

For now, we have once again had to make space to keep this kitten safe while we look for her owner, a possible foster, or an adopter.

‼️ A REMINDER TO EVERYONE:

Cats of Ivory Wood is a community cat program, NOT an animal shelter.

Our resources are primarily intended for the community cats already living in Ivory Wood, through managed feeding and TNVR to responsibly manage their population and welfare.

Our usual approach with healthy new arrivals is fairly simple: monitor and provide food, allow them to find their place within the existing colony, and eventually include them in our kapon+vax efforts.

But kittens, sick cats, and lost/dumped pets with little to no outdoor survival skills are different.

They cannot simply be released into an established colony and left to “figure things out.” They need to be contained and assessed first, both for their own safety and to protect our existing cats from potential illness.

These not-exactly-stray cats require quarantine, veterinary treatment, fostering, and eventually a new home. This requires resources that our community cat program was NOT designed to provide indefinitely.

We simply cannot keep absorbing responsibility for every new cat that arrives. We do NOT have unlimited resources or space.

Again, do NOT abandon pets or kittens in IVW/Acacia Estates. If you are having difficulty caring for a cat, please reach out before leaving them just anywhere outside. We can at least try to point you toward safer options.

For this mini calico, our immediate priority is finding a foster and raising funds for the medical and other needs of all these new arrivals.

She is our 6th new arrival (and 3rd kitten) since June, and our 10th new one for the year. 😭

It’s simply too much for a community cat program already caring for an existing colony.

To be completely transparent, we currently almost have no funds left for August. After replenishing our essential supplies and settling pending vet bills, we have less than ₱1,000 remaining in our cat fund, despite our consistent fundraising efforts and the help we’ve received from the community.💔

🌧️ STAY SAFE & DRY, EVERYONE! ☔

With the rainy weather we've been having, you may see some of our community cats taking shelter in common areas or looking for safe, dry spots.

Please be patient with them during this time. They may be a little more visible than usual as they look for somewhere comfortable to wait out the rain.

If you see a cat taking shelter, please give them some space and do not bother them for everyone's safety.

🚗 And please do check under and around your cars before starting your vehicle. Cats may seek shelter around parked cars during rainy weather. If you spot one, gently shoo them away from the vehicle before starting it, without harming or frightening them.

Our 26 community cats rely on daily care to stay fed, safe, and healthy.

This month, we need your help more than ever. Since June, 5 (!!!) new cats popped up in Ivory Wood — 6, if we count one more who was tragically hit by a car last Aug 2 (the morning after he was first reported to us, before we could even make space for him). 😢

3 of the 5 new cats are very sick. Despite the lack of space and funds, we had to contain and treat them fast to protect our OG colony from getting sick too. On top of that, adoptable boy Pichi needs dental work for his ongoing gingivitis.

Every additional cat means additional strain on an already limited budget, but with your support, we can make sure they all get the care they need.

Cats of Ivory Wood is a resident volunteer-run community cat TNVR program, NOT an animal shelter or rescue. Please do not abandon/dump cats in Ivory Wood or anywhere in Acacia Estates. Aside from being illegal (RA 8485), every "dumped" cat adds real strain to an already limited budget and space. If you can no longer care for a pet, please look into proper rehoming options instead. You can also do what we do, we are just simple residents like you.
