The Taguig City Medical Assistance Office (MAO) continued its mission of bringing healthcare closer to the community through its Love Caravan held on September 16, 17, and 19โ at Barangays North Signal, Bagumbayan, and Post Proper Northside. Under the initiative, residents are offered free medical and dental services, diagnostic procedures, and laboratory tests, ensuring accessible and quality care for all.
The program benefited the following:
โข Medical consultations: 1,118 residents
โข Dental services: 313 residents
โข Diagnostic tests: 310 residents
โข Laboratory services: 281 residents
โข Free vitamins and medicines: 1,391 residents
โข Hearing aids: 8 residents
โข ENT referrals: 13 residents
Qualified residents also availed of the free PhilHealth registration.
To ensure a holistic approach to wellness through the Love Caravan program, MAO continues to collaborate with the City Nutrition Office and the City Agriculture Office and conduct agricultural and nutrition lectures while distributing nutrition packages to those who attend these lectures. The packages include ingredients for a low-cost recipe, fruits and vegetables from urban demo farms, and vegetable seeds to encourage urban gardening.
The Love Caravan program embodies Taguigโs Transformative, Lively, and Caring agenda as it champions healthcare in the City through comprehensive services, which include:
โข medical and dental consultations;
โข diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests;
โข PhilHealth registration for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women; and
โข free vitamins, medicines, and hearing aids
Teresa Oabel, 47, a resident near Jail Side in Brgy. Post Proper Northside who availed herself of the medical check-up, shared how the Love Caravan has made healthcare more accessible to their community.
"Para po sa akin, malaking bagay ang pagbaba ng Love Caravan dito mismo sa aming barangay. Malaking ginhawa po siya para sa amin, kasi yung mga libreng serbisyong medikal ay nandidito na at hindi na namin kailangang lumayo o gumastos nang malaki para lamang magpa-check up. Tulad ko na nag-avail din po ng libreng check-up at nabigyan ng libreng gamot, kaya talagang malaking tulong ito sa sa aming mga residente."
In another interview, Geraldine Garin, 34, from 37th St. Brgy. Post Proper North Side, expressed her appreciation after attending the nutrition and urban gardening seminar. She thanked Mayor Lani for bringing essential health services closer to residents.
"Maraming-maraming salamat po sa aming mahal na Mayor Lani Cayetano. Simula nang mailipat kami rito sa Taguig, ramdam na ramdam po namin ang kanyang malasakit at pagiging hands-on sa mga residente. Sa pamamagitan ng Love Caravan, mas napapalapit sa amin ang mga serbisyong pangkalusugan at nagkakaroon kami ng pagkakataong makapagpa-check up at maipatingin agad ang aming mga karamdaman."
Mayor Lani Cayetano graced the event and encouraged residents to take advantage of the City Governmentโs health programs, especially during flu season and as the holiday season approaches.
"Samantalahin po natin ang mga programang hatid natin ngayong araw, na layuning mailapit sa inyo ang mga serbisyong pangkalusugan. Lalo na ngayong papalapit na ang Kapaskuhan at nakararanas pa rin tayo ng pag-ulan, mas madali tayong kapitan ng mga sakit tulad ng trangkaso, lagnat, at ubo dahil flu season pa rin. Kaya naman mahalaga po na patuloy nating isinasagawa ang Love Caravan upang mas mailapit ang kinakailangang serbisyong pang-medikal sa bawat barangay at mas mapangalagaan ang kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan."
She also added to her message a reminder for residents to follow the cityโs ordinances, particularly on proper solid waste management.
"Siguro po, makikiusap na rin po si Mayor Lani Cayetano sa ating lahat na palagi nating sundin ang mga ordinansa ng ating lungsod, lalo na pagdating sa solid waste management. Panatilihin po nating malinis, maayos, luntian, at kaaya-aya ang ating kapaligiran, dahil ang malinis at maayos na paligid ay repleksyon din ng ating disiplina, pag-uugali, at malasakit sa ating komunidad."
