📢 PUBLIC ADVISORY: GENERAL EVACUATION DRILL

The Philippine Red Cross – Bohol Chapter will conduct a General Evacuation Drill on:

📅 August 25, 2026 (Tuesday)
⏰ 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
📍 PRC Bohol Chapter, Provincial Capitol Compound, Marapao Street, Tagbilaran City

This one-hour drill is part of our continuing efforts to test our emergency activation and evacuation protocols and strengthen the preparedness of our staff and Red Cross 143 volunteers for the upcoming province-wide simulation exercises in September.

🚨 PLEASE DO NOT PANIC

During the exercise, the public may hear sirens, see emergency vehicles, and observe personnel evacuating the PRC Chapter building and areas within the Capitol Compound. This is only a controlled training exercise. There is no actual emergency.

🚧 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

In coordination with the Tagbilaran City Traffic Management Office (CTMO), the portion of Marapao Street adjacent to the PRC Bohol Chapter and Provincial Capitol will be temporarily closed to traffic from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM to provide a safe assembly and operational area for participants.

🚗 TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Motorists are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly and use alternative routes, including J.A. Clarin Street, during the one-hour exercise. Traffic enforcers will be deployed to assist motorists and facilitate rerouting.

We ask for the cooperation, understanding, and support of the public as we continue to strengthen our preparedness and response capabilities to better serve the people of Bohol.

‎𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐔𝐒 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | Blood Donation Drive draws 181 donors at BISU-Bilar

‎A total of 181 students and faculty members of Bohol Island State University (BISU)–Bilar Campus donated blood during the Pledge 25: Blood Donation Drive themed “BayaNiyugan sa Kalusugan: Blood Donation Drive for Coconut Farmers and their Families” on August 20, 2026, at the Activity Center.

‎The blood drive was organized jointly by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and BISU-Bilar, with support from the Red Cross Youth–BISU-Bilar Council, University Health Services, BISU-Bilar National Service Training Program (NSTP), Philippine Red Cross–Bohol Chapter, and Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.

‎Personnel and volunteers from NSTP, the Philippine Red Cross–Bohol Chapter, and Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital facilitated the donor screening and blood collection to ensure that qualified participants could safely donate.

‎The initiative aimed to help increase blood availability for coconut farmers and their families during medical emergencies, strengthening community support for the sector.

As Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon emphasizes, "Volunteers serve as the organization's backbone and ensure that whatever the community is living through—a natural disaster, a health crisis, a conflict—we will continue to be the lifeline of the people". Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang echoes this sentiment, reminding us that "the movement has always been built on ordinary people" who dedicate themselves to service.

Bohol continues to strengthen disaster resilience and sustainable community development through ecosystem-based governance.

This followed the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado, hosting the first NBS Roadshow Bohol 2026 on August 12 at the Ceremonial Hall.

Organized through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), in partnership with the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) Bohol and the Philippine Red Cross, the three-day forum and public lectures focused on advancing nature-based solutions for climate and disaster-resilient planning and development.

Dr. Dano delivered the statement of purpose, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift toward sustainable development, tangible outcomes, and enhanced skill sets for local government units.

Delivering the welcome message on behalf of Gov. Aumentado, Chief of Staff Atty. Asoy-Piollo highlighted that integrating healthy ecosystems into planning protects lives, strengthens resilience, and achieves sustainable growth while safeguarding the natural heritage of Bohol.

The conference featured keynote presentations from Dr. Dennis Garrity on protecting vital ecosystems amid an accelerating global heating emergency, Dr. Delia Catacutan on protecting ecosystems from ridge to reef using nature-based solutions, Dr. Chona Echavez on flood risk infrastructure and resettlement adaptation lessons, and Engr. Andres Muego, EnP, on mainstreaming blue-green infrastructure in land use planning, and DILG Bohol Director Johnjoan Mende, who shared insights on the presentation's salient points.

Further sessions included EnP. Emmanuel Crucio on Mandaue City nature-based solutions development planning, Ms. Rowena Soriaga on multi-stakeholder watershed alliances and participatory climate-resilient barangay development planning, and Atty. Leonardo del Carmen, EnP, on relevant flood control and climate adaptation bills; Dr. Arvin Diesmos on the natural heritage conservation nexus; and Dr. Rosalinda Paredes as reactor.

The activity was attended by municipal planning officers, disaster risk reduction officers, members of the academe, and various stakeholders.

This initiative reinforces the Strategic Governance Roadmap of the PGBh and supports the environmental protection and Sustainable Development Goals of the Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark.
