On July 23-24, 2026, the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) – Coastal Resource Management Division, in collaboration with partner agencies, namely the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)–PENRO and CENRO Talibon, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and with the assistance of LGU Inabanga, conducted a Seagrass and Coral Reefs Assessment in the Coastal and Marine areas of Barangay Hambongan, Inabangga, Bohol. In application for a Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) Clearance for the proposed Municipal-Wide Water Supply System Project of the local Government Unit of Inabanga, Bohol.

The assessment is necessary to establish baseline environment information and provide the technical inputs required in evaluating the potential impacts of the proposed underwater pipeline. The results of the assessment will support the processing of the project’s PAMB Clearance and ensure compliance with the applicable environmental laws, rules and regulations.

The data gathered from this assessment will serve as a valuable baseline for planning, management, and conservation initiatives aimed at ensuring the sustainable use, protection, and long-term preservation of Inabanga coastal and marine resources.

These findings can support informed decision-making and the development of effective strategies to maintain the ecological health and resilience of the municipality’s marine ecosystems.

On July 21, 2026, the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBH), through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), conducted a Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) activity in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at the Bohol Limestone Corporation. The monitoring activity was undertaken as part of the company's environmental compliance requirements and to assess the status of biodiversity within the mining site.

The activity focused on documenting and monitoring the presence of flora and fauna, evaluating habitat conditions, and gathering baseline ecological data to determine the effectiveness of existing environmental management and conservation measures.

The monitoring also aimed to ensure that the company's mining operations remain consistent with applicable environmental laws, regulations, permit conditions, and environmental commitments while promoting the protection, conservation, and sustainable management of biological resources within the mining site.

On July 24, 2026, in celebration of World Mangrove Day 2026, the Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) – Coastal Resource Management Division (CRMD), conducted the World Mangrove Day 2026 Forum with a theme of “Protecting Mangroves, Sustaining Communities” in Barangay Macaas, Tubigon, Bohol. The activity brought together representatives from the barangays of Macaas and Cabulijan, composed primarily of fisherfolk and members of local People's Organizations (POs). The forum aimed to strengthen community awareness and participation in the conservation, protection, and sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems.

The activity provided participants with essential knowledge on the ecological and economic importance of mangroves, including their role in protecting coastal communities, supporting biodiversity, enhancing fisheries, and increasing resilience to climate change. Discussions also focused on proper mangrove restoration practices, highlighting appropriate nursery establishment, planting techniques, site selection, and best practices to improve the success of rehabilitation efforts while avoiding common restoration mistakes.

To reinforce their gained knowledge, a field demonstration was conducted where participants actively engaged in hands-on mangrove restoration activities. The demonstration included proper mangrove seedling bagging and planting techniques, allowing participants to apply the concepts discussed during the lectures. Through this interactive activity, the participants gained practical skills and a deeper appreciation of their role in protecting and restoring mangrove ecosystems, thereby promoting stronger community stewardship and long-term environmental sustainability.

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), conducted a Coordination Meeting of the Provincial Compliance Task Force (PCTF) for Wood Processing Plant (WPP) Permit Application on July 14, 2026, at the BPEMO Conference Hall. The PCTF is composed of the Office of the Governor, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Provincial Legal Office (PLO), Bohol Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (BEDIPO), BPEMO, and the Business Permits and Licensing Offices (BPLO) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The coordination meeting focused on the follow-up discussions on the proposed Work and Financial Plan (WFP) for the supplemental budget and the refinement of the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among DENR Region VII, PGBh, and the DTI Bohol Provincial Office.

The participants also discussed the proposed inclusion of bamboo in the regulatory framework alongside conventional timber materials for the furniture industry and the proposed amendment to Provincial Executive Order No. 2025-23 to include the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) as a member of the PCTF to support cooperative engagement in the WPPP. The agencies likewise reaffirmed their commitment to institutionalizing coordinated initiatives, including stakeholder orientation, streamlined permit processing through a One-Stop Shop, and the capacity-building of technical personnel, to provide more accessible and efficient government support to WPP permit applicants and Bohol furniture makers while promoting sustainable industry growth and regulatory compliance.

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), actively participated and reaffirmed its commitment during the Coordination Meeting for the Planning of the World Bamboo Day Celebration, held at the Loboc Municipal Hall on July 13, 2026.

During the meeting, Forester Cuerbo presented the previous Executive Orders (EOs) signed by Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado that institutionalize the annual observance of World Bamboo Day, which will serve as the basis for this year’s celebration. He also discussed the composition of the organizing committees and explained their respective roles and responsibilities.

This year’s World Bamboo Day celebration will be hosted by the Municipality of Loboc in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bohol, the Bohol Bamboo Industry Development Council (BBIDC), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the United Bohol Bamboo Advocates Inc. (UBBAI) and Colegio de Loboc. The celebration will include a bamboo planting activity in Barangay Buenavista, Loboc with a proposed 7,000 bamboo seedlings to be sourced from PGBh and the Local Government Unit of Lila. It will also feature a Bamboo Builders Boot Camp, where participants, under the guidance of Architect Erven Digal, will construct a bamboo pavilion showcasing sustainable design and local bamboo craftsmanship.

The meeting concluded with a planning session on the event’s logistics, including the mapping of the bamboo planting site, site preparation, and other necessary arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of the World Bamboo Day celebration in September.

As part of its commitment to building the next generation of coastal resource managers and marine conservation practitioners, the Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Division of the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) continues to provide practical field training for its On-the-Job Trainees (OJTs) of BISU-Bilar Campus through immersive coastal and marine assessment activities on July 16, 2026.

The trainees were introduced to and actively participated in seagrass assessments and manta tow assessments, where they learned the proper field methodologies used in monitoring the health and condition of Bohol's coastal ecosystems. Under the guidance of the CRM technical staff, the OJTs gained valuable hands-on experience in collecting field data, identifying key marine habitats, and understanding the importance of scientific monitoring in coastal resource management.

To further enhance their field exposure, the trainees were also given the opportunity to experience SCUBA diving, while appreciating the significance of safe diving practices and underwater conservation work. This experience provided them with a deeper understanding of the underwater environment and strengthened their appreciation for marine biodiversity.

Simultaneously, the Coastal Resource Management Division together with LGU Dauis, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Management Office (MENRO), headed by Mr. Jose Erwin Tuazon, EnP., and Barangay Bingag together with the members of Bingag Dapdap Fisherfolk Organization (BIDAFO) also conducted Giant Clam Monitoring at the Bingag Marine Protected Area (MPA) in Dauis, Bohol, as part of its continuing efforts to monitor and conserve one of the province's important marine resources. The activity contributes to the long-term assessment of giant clam populations and supports science-based management strategies for marine protected areas.

Through these initiatives, BPEMO remains committed to empowering future environmental professionals by combining classroom knowledge with real-world field experience while strengthening the conservation and sustainable management of Bohol's coastal and marine ecosystems.

On July 15, 2026, the Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) – Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD), conducted a Random Central Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Monitoring in the Municipality of Cortes, Bohol, to assess the operational status of the facility and monitor the implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) Program.

During the monitoring, it was observed that the Central MRF continues to improve its operations and facilities. The bio-composter is being prepared for the resumption of operations, while the glass pulverizer remains operational. The pulverized glass materials are being stockpiled and, according to the MRF caretaker, are intended for sale to a buyer in Cebu. Other recyclable materials have been segregated and stored in preparation for collection by an accredited junk shop buyer. Preparations are also underway for the construction of a new MRF sorting and segregation building, which is expected to improve the efficiency of waste processing, strengthen resource recovery, and further enhance the implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) Program.

Regular waste collection is conducted in all barangays, while waste collection in the public market is carried out on a weekly basis. All residual wastes are transported to the Albuquerque Sanitary Landfill for final disposal twice a week. These collection and disposal activities ensure the timely transport and proper management of municipal solid waste, prevent the accumulation of waste in residential and commercial areas, and contribute to maintaining environmental cleanliness while supporting the effective implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) Program.
