Leaders, policymakers, and renewable energy champions from across Bohol gathered on June 3, 2026, at Bohol Tropics Resort for the 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆. Centered on the theme, “𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘭’𝘴 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵,” the forum served as a platform to strengthen collaboration, share insights, and advance a common vision for a cleaner, more sustainable, and energy-secure future for the province.

The event was organized by the 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗜𝗻𝗰. (𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗡) through 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗘 (𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆), in partnership with the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 ((𝗣𝗚𝗕𝗵), the 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗕𝗣𝗘𝗠𝗢), the 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗕), and the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 (𝗗𝗢𝗘).
Participants included members of the 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, and 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, underscoring the province-wide commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Opening the forum, 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗼 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗖. 𝗔𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗼 welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of collaborative leadership in shaping Bohol’s energy future.

Delivering a message of support, 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗜. 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗼𝘆, President of the Bohol Association of Non-Government Organizations, Inc., highlighted the organization’s continuing role in advancing renewable energy initiatives through Project ASPIRE.

Providing the national perspective on renewable energy development, 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝘆 𝗕. 𝗱𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝘇𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, discussed the country’s energy landscape and the national government’s strategic direction for expanding renewable energy deployment.

The province’s renewable energy initiatives were presented by 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗼-𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿, through her presentation, “𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘌𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘭.” She highlighted the province’s efforts to strengthen policies and governance mechanisms that support sustainable energy development.

The forum also featured renewable energy champions from other provinces who shared valuable experiences and lessons learned.

𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼 𝗟. 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 of the Province of Leyte and former Department of Energy Secretary presented Leyte’s renewable energy projects and policy initiatives. He also provided insights into the country’s power grid system, including the economic benefits, costs, and potential savings associated with transitioning to renewable energy sources.

Meanwhile, 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗕. 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮 of the 4th District of Iloilo shared the province’s renewable energy roadmap and discussed policies that have helped advance Iloilo’s renewable energy agenda.

An open forum moderated by Ms. Joan Llanos allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers. Questions from local government representatives were addressed by the panel composed of Gov. Petilla, Board Member Distura, and Assistant Director De Guzman, fostering meaningful dialogue on the opportunities and challenges surrounding renewable energy development.

The afternoon workshop session, facilitated by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗻 𝗩. 𝗟𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘀, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗔. 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗻, and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗗. 𝗢𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗮, engaged participants in meaningful discussions on the future of renewable energy in their municipalities. Through guided workshops, local leaders assessed existing strengths and opportunities that could support renewable energy development, identified key barriers to adoption, and explored critical questions related to financing, policy, and implementation. The session provided a platform for participants to share experiences, surface common challenges, and generate practical recommendations to help accelerate Bohol’s transition toward sustainable and renewable energy solutions.

Representatives from the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆–𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, namely 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗮, 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗮, provided technical guidance and valuable insights, particularly on financing mechanisms and practical approaches to promoting renewable energy projects at the local level.

The forum concluded on a positive and forward-looking note, reaffirming Bohol’s commitment to renewable energy development, a just energy transition, and the cultivation of more renewable energy champions throughout the province. Participants emphasized the importance of addressing existing barriers, crafting sustainable solutions, and positioning Bohol as a leader in renewable energy innovation and governance in the region.

As Bohol continues to pursue a future powered by affordable, reliable, and clean energy, the forum marked a significant milestone in strengthening partnerships and aligning stakeholders toward a shared vision of sustainable development.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 held a Coordination Visit and Project Update Meeting on May 21, 2026, at the New Provincial Capitol Building with the Office of Provincial Board Member 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗝𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿, principal author of the “𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹.”

The meeting was attended by Engr. Jerrey David Aguilar, Program Manager; Carreellon S. Bensi and Richard A. Jeanjaquet Jr., Project Staff; together with Engr. Jayson Siez, representing the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) and the Bohol Renewable Energy Board (BREB) Secretariat.

During the engagement, Engr. Aguilar and Engr. Siez presented the accomplished, ongoing, and upcoming activities of the 𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, including its key next steps and collaborative initiatives in advancing renewable energy development in the Province of Bohol. The discussion likewise underscored the importance of sustained support and partnership from the Office of the Provincial Board Member and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in further strengthening renewable energy initiatives alongside BANGON, BPEMO, BREB, and other partner stakeholders.

Hon. Villamor expressed her sincere appreciation to BANGON through the ASPIRE Project Initiative and conveyed her optimism and encouragement as renewable energy efforts in the province continue to gain momentum. She likewise affirmed her continued support for the project’s forthcoming activities and engagements, recognizing the vital role of collaboration in positioning Bohol as an emerging leader in renewable energy development.

As the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹, 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗡, 𝗕𝗣𝗘𝗠𝗢, and the 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗕 continue to strengthen their partnership, their collective commitment to a more sustainable, resilient, and renewable energy-driven future for Bohol remains steadfast and unwavering.

The Bohol Renewable Energy Board (BREB) convened its 2nd Quarter Meeting on April 28 at the CPG Hall of the New Provincial Capitol, reinforcing the province’s leadership in sustainable and renewable energy development.

Central to the agenda is the presentation of the approved Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Provincial Ordinance No. 2023-018, otherwise known as the Clean and Renewable Energy Code of Bohol, alongside Executive Order No. 16 establishing the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the evaluation of renewable energy projects under the Inclusive and Resilient Investment Assessment Framework.

The Board also tackled the framework’s evaluation process, scoring system, and compliance monitoring mechanisms to ensure sustainable, data-driven, and impact-oriented energy investments.

Updates were presented on Project BREAM, which will generate a geo-referenced Renewable Energy Map for solar, wind, biomass, and hydro development, as well as the ASPIRE Project of BANGON supporting policy and investment planning.

With strengthened policies, robust partnerships, and science-based frameworks in place, the Provincial Government of Bohol under the leadership of Governor Aris Aumentado, continues to position itself at the forefront of clean energy governance aligned with its Strategic Change Roadmap, driving sustainable, inclusive, and resilient development for the future.
