As the nation celebrates its 128th year of independence, the Liga ng mga Debatistang Kabataang Bol-anon stands in solidarity with the entire Filipino nation in honoring the blood, sweat, and tears that paved the way for our sovereignty.
Our forefathers fought their battles on the rugged terrains of our islands. Today, as young debaters and critical thinkers, our battleground is the arena of ideas. True independence is not merely the absence of a foreign oppressor, it is the presence of a well-informed populace, the liberty to dissent, and the courage to speak truth to power.
In an era where polarized rhetoric and disinformation threaten the very foundations of our democracy, our words must serve as both shields against falsehood and beacons of enlightenment. We refuse to be silent spectators to history. Instead, we choose to be active architects of our nation’s future, molding society through mutual understanding, rigorous discourse, intellect, and an unwavering love for our country.
From the heart of Bohol to the rest of the archipelago, let us keep the flame of freedom alive. May we never grow tired of defending the truth, challenging injustice, and speaking up for the marginalized.
