𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐓 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲

Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) composed of representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Scaling Up Nutrition Academe Network conducted a two-day Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro in Tagbilaran City, Bohol on 14-15 May 2025. National Nutrition Council Region VII provided secretariat support to the evaluation team.

MELLPI Pro is an institutionalized monitoring and evaluation mechanism conducted in the Philippines by the National Nutrition Council to assess the effectiveness of nutrition programs at the local level. It focuses on evaluating the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) and aims to improve nutrition outcomes, particularly for children.

The team was met by the City Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Jeia Pondoc and City Nutrition Program Coordinator, Mr. Rey delos Santos. The team evaluated the city’s 2024 performance according to the different dimensions of MELLPI Pro including vision and mission, nutrition policies, governance, local nutrition committee functionality, nutrition services and others. To further validate the city’s performance, the RNET visited barangays Cabawan, Poblacion 2 and Bool where they interviewed the Punong Barangay/Chair and members of the Barangay Nutrition Committees (BNC) and reviewed the records and reports maintained by the BNC. Results of the evaluation will be deliberated upon by the members of the RNET and findings and recommendations for best performing LGUs and local nutrition focal persons will be submitted to the Regional Nutrition Committee for approval. // ND Mary Gessa Vergara, RND
