The University of Bohol College of Law student community joins the entire UBian family in mourning the passing of Atty. Ulysses B. Tirol.

As a former Dean of the College of Law, Atty. Tirol was more than a leader; he was a cornerstone of legal education in Bohol. His contributions as an educator, former Acting President, and instructor leave an indelible mark on our institution.

The students of the UB College of Law extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family and loved ones of Atty. Tirol.

The second semester kicked off with a renewed sense of purpose as the law student community gathered for the General Assembly held earlier today, January 24, 2026, at the University of Bohol College of Law.

The assembly opened with a comprehensive report from LSG Governor Hezekiah Kit Sales Canlas who walked the student body through a successful first semester, showcasing a timeline of activities and major wins from August 2025 through January 2026.

In his message, the Governor expressed deep gratitude to the students, noting that the success of the LSGโ€™s initiatives and other UB Law organizations (UB Law BarOps, UB Law OLA, CLEP, UB Law Moot Club) was only possible through the "all-out participation" and unwavering support of the entire college.

College of Law Dean Gregorio B. Austral formally welcomed both returning students and new enrollees. His address focused on maintaining the high standards of the institution through several key updates, like:

โ–ถ๏ธNew College Policies: The Dean introduced updated guidelines to be observed by the student body this semester.

โ–ถ๏ธUB Law Mock Bar: the UB COL last January 11 & 18 conducted its first Mock Bar, specifically designed to rigourously prepare fourth-year students for their upcoming Bar Exam.

โ–ถ๏ธAcademic Reminders: Dean Austral also provided reminders on the effective use of educational tools and the importance of adhering to existing college protocols.

The event concluded with a palpable sense of excitement. As the UB College of Law transitions into the second half of the academic year, the entire student community remains committed to academic excellence and active campus involvement.

The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) visited the University of Bohol College of Law (UB COL) on Tuesday, January 20, for its ongoing 2026 OSG Legal Internship Program Roadshow.

State Solicitor Lorene Pe, joined by Administrative Officer Lesther Matthew Castillo and Senior Administrative Assistant Efren Arlantico Jr., presented a brief history of the OSG, its powers, functions, and duties, and an overview of the OSG as an organization to the UB COL students. Atty. Pe also discussed significant cases handled by the OSG and emphasized why law students should choose the OSGโ€”the largest law firm in the countryโ€”to be part of their internship journey.

Mr. Castillo then discussed the OSGโ€™s Legal Internship Program, detailing the activities for chosen interns from around the country, the benefits for law students, and the application requirements and process.

UB COL Dean Atty. Gregorio B. Austral, in his welcome address, expressed his appreciation to the guests for their visit to the college and encouraged the students to join the program.

The University of Bohol Moot Club, in collaboration with the University of Bohol Law Student Government, cordially invites the UB Law community to witness the culmination of this yearโ€™s UB College of Law Moot Court Competition!

Our first-year Master of Legal Studies (MLS) students have spent weeks preparing for a rigorous interdisciplinary challenge. This yearโ€™s moot problem tests their ability to balance fundamental rights against the demands of public order.

Building on the success of its inaugural year, this competition provides our first-year students, currently enrolled in the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program, a platform to showcase their skills in legal research and oral advocacy. This yearโ€™s moot problem is uniquely interdisciplinary, challenging students to navigate a complex clash between freedom of religion and public order, a problem that integrates key principles from their subjects in Basic Legal Ethics, Constitutional Law I, Criminal Law, Persons and Family Relations, Statutory Construction, and Philosophy of Law.

Join us this Saturday, January 10, 8:00 AM, at the Instructional Resource Center (IRC) Auditorium, 3rd Floor, IRC Building, University of Bohol, to observe high-level legal argumentation and support our aspiring advocates in their semi-final and final rounds!
