My college professors always said (when doing a research paper or thesis)... "Go to the Original Sources (not the modern)..." And that is where the oldest living 'source' of Christianity is... from the Ancient Church in the East. Just check the Apostles and their disciples (the Early Church Father's writings) - search what 'they' wrote to see how Christianity was in the first few hundred years.
